My legs are still stiff from the race on Sunday and I've got some mix of a cold and hayfever, but I needed to get out there. Not too hot out, but that suits me. I did a loop I've done a few times. I was finding my km splits were fairly consistently around 5:45, which I'm happy with. I lost time on the way back as I stopped at the outdoor gym for a few reps on the machines there. I wanted to work my arms a bit.
One the way back I passed a guy playing the clarinet. You can just see him on the grass bank. I've seen him doing this around the site where I work. That's a good way to spend your lunch break. This tunnel tends to get flooded when it rains a lot.
I aim to get another run in this week and I hope to get back to parkrun soon.

I managed to get to the gym on Monday and have been walking lots with the dog. Saw a knee specialist and he said no running for a good few weeks. I’ve got some exercises to do.
I’ve been enjoying cycling with the kids but we obviously don’t go far. Every little helps though :)
That tunnel looks like a good place to get mugged, hope you are carrying a spare baseball bat with you :)
The town is a good place to get mugged :D
I just hope I can outrun them. There are some dodgy characters around there
I could barely make out the guy in the grass, but I see him now. Reminds me of something out of Zelda. Isn't it crazy the things you see in the strangest places. Was he good?
I didn't really hear him as I had earbuds in.
Ah, good point! :)
I did a walk (not running) on monday. I want to start build up a good condition. My intention is to do this 3 times a week. Monday I walked for about 6,5 km. Walking in the out-lands is very nice I noticed, you see a lot af things you otherwise passes by with the car.
I've explored a lot of my local area since I started running. That adds to the fun
It sure does !! You kind a forget how beautiful our area can be.. :)
"On the way back I passed a guy playing the clarinet."... I can imagine this mad your run even better. I am noticing "good coincidences" like this one on my runs as well and am grateful when they happen. Onwards and upwards with our running!
I see all sorts of things when I'm out running. This is one reason I'd rather do this than visit a gym
I always like to try and run when i have a slight cold. Helps to sweat the toxins out!
I have thought of it like that too. Not sure if it really works, but it probably won't do any harm
I think it does. Toxins be gone!
going well :-)
I have found (for me) that running the day after a hard workout prevents the dreaded DOMS.
I've kept it at bay for about 4 weeks now. so when it finally gets me I won't be able to walk hehe.
Your running is going really well. At least now that it is summer time it's a lot easier to get out and run again.
I haven't dropped by your blog in sometime man........
Although I haven't kept track of the stats but its really good to see that you have been keeping up the pace for these past months.
i hardly complete 1.7 km in 7 minuits but running is must now a days to be fit. Really impressed by your hard work
Good job on getting consistent, hope you recovery well enough to fit another run in. I look forward to seeing a parkrun update in the future!
Cheers. Good for you. Exercise is so important and staying fit and active as we (I) get older is so important. I am about to turn 58 and recently I have started skating (roller) again. BTW, I live in California so it's not that odd that might go skating at the beach. It used to be something I did all the time. Every evening for the past few weeks I have done about a 7.5-mile loop in about an hours time. The curious thing is how depleted I feel when I am done. Much more so than the same amount of time spent on an elliptical. However, when I try to estimate calories burned by different fitness website it tells me the opposite. Regardless I feel my body frantically searching for calories to burn when I'm finished. I might try finding an app to help me track distance and progress. Thank you for inspiring me to share my story too.
Run when you can, walk if you have to, crawl if you must; just never give up.

Very well! This is a good habit. Everyone should do walking to stay healthy and fit. I used to tell myself and others if you rest you rust. So keep moving is the way to go!
Running is one of the best ways to relax and it is also very good for your health. Good time, but I know that with perseverance you can improve that time a lot.
