A feedback loop is a system structure that causes output from one node to eventually influence input to that same node. They exist all around us even if you are not aware of them.
That thermostat keeping your home nice and cozy warm – feedback loop.
A temperature sensor sends an output. The output signals a heater to turn on and raises the temperature. The rise in temperature is received by the sensor as input, thus completing the loop.
Feedback loops are everywhere.
Anyway I digress. The purpose of this post is not to provide you with a detailed explanation of feedback loops. After all a quick Google search would do much better than I ever could.
Instead, I just wanted to share what I consider to be one of the most fun and enjoyable feedback loops out there. A camera shooting a video of its own screen.
If you haven’t tried this before give it a shot. You will be surprised how long you can spend twisting and turning the camera trying to come up with new and unexpected feedback patterns.
In the video below I simply used Airplay to mirror an iPad and then faced it toward the television. It starts a little slow, but if you make it to minute one I really hit my sweet spot. Those with a little imagination will see a crab, a lotus flower, a heart, and a burning flame.
Try it for yourself and see what awesome patterns you can come up with!

This Youtube video from Imaginative Guy was in the queue just behind mine and it contains some fantastic patterns. Worth a watch.
I just found about the steemitpond from @oaldamster post..you probably created it a while back. It's a cool idea.
Hey Thanks. Hoping to find time this next week to push a version 2. Hope you enjoy it if I do.
Yes.That would be nice. I hope more people will know about it.
