Some background information
Global warming is defined as: “an increase in the earth's average atmospheric temperature that causes corresponding changes in climate and that may result from the greenhouse effect.”
So, what’s the problem?
Global warming is a huge issue that we will soon be facing the severe consequences of. From a scientific perspective, global warming is the excessive release of carbon-dioxide (CO2) which acts as a blanket in our atmosphere. Excessive releases of this gas block heat from leaving our atmosphere. In a way, this can be related to how a real blanket may help to keep us warm. We generate body heat while the blanket traps the heat inside. An atmospheric blanket may sound good for us, but it really isn’t. Global warming is rapidly heating and effectively melting Antarctica. Species will be going extinct. Not only this, but if the whole mass of Antarctica melts, the sea level would rise around 200 feet! The Netherlands would be sunk, and many other cities/states would become Atlantis. Florida would also be almost completely gone.
Steps we can take to help
There are a numerous amount of things we can do to help prevent global warming. Tesla (the company) is working on a way to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in cars. The solution is electric vehicles. Tesla is quickly working to manufacture cost-effective and efficient electric vehicles. The Tesla Model 3 is currently priced with a starting price of only 35 thousand! That may sound like a lot for a car, but this is a brand new "price territory" for the electric market. Norway has almost completely eliminated gas-powered cars. We need to make that change as well.
Another solution to this problem is totally adapting to using renewable energy sources in our daily lives. Fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and natural gas all produce carbon-dioxide when burned. This is a huge problem as well. We need to adapt to alternative, renewable energy sources such as solar power, hydro power, and wind power. These sources generate clean energy, which does not release carbon dioxide when utilized!
So, is it real?
Though this difficult switch will be extremely expensive, it will greatly benefit us in the future. This is a real world problem that needs to be solved before it’s too late. Our current president may not support nor believe in the cause, but this is one-hundred percent real and proven with the aid science and technology!
