More scrobble.life updates

in #scrobble10 hours ago

While most of these things are going to be boring and not that interesting to users, thought it's still important to post updates on what I'm working on.

Some updates on guest accounts as they've been neglected mostly, although there's not been many non-hivers logging in anyway (only 2 counted so far). At the same time we'll be thinking about how to evolve these more later once there's more demand.

Guests can now write quick takes/comments. Anyone signed in with gmail (and soon discord) can now leave short comments that are non-hive comments. They'll mainly exist on the website.

Their content is visually distinct so users can tell it's from a guest account. Aside from leaving comments they can also scrobble songs/videos and log movies/tvshows/etc but none of it is on-chain.

For longform reviews they will need a hive account and now they get a friendly explainer rather than a dead end as was before.

Music Reviews

New content type for those who wanna write more about music than just short timed (or not timed) comments/snaps.

These will mainly exist on the artist's page, which you can click towards from the artist leaderboard or when listening to a song by clicking on the artist.

Reviews will show up under that page and be directed towards the Music Zone community on Hive.

For further disvovery, we've also added music reviews to /compare, /playlist and /player.

Community scrobble corrections

A new feature where if you notice your song/video scrobbles grabbed the wrong youtube link, i.e. maybe they matched it with a live version even though you were listening to the album version, etc, you're now able to correct it with the correct link input.

All suggestions now land in the /corrections page which allows the community to vote with 👍 / 👎 while current/suggested link is shown side by side with thumbnails. Majority rule apply the winner and changes take affect site-wide.

To keep things safe, only links from the extensions approved list are accepted so you can't link to websites outside of it.

We also fixed some speed issues and some error pages that didn't exist before for a better UX.

It's not boring at all. Reading this helped me to have a better understanding of the way scrobble is a link to extra-Hive contacts. It's going to be slow to begin, but isn't everything slow at the beginning?

I also believe that great things take time. Eventually, people will notice a great project. Thanks for making Hive a worthwhile place to stay ❤️

Wow, I just found out about scrobble.life.
I'll check it out right away.

It's great to see everything coming together! 😀

I think regular updates and improvements keep the community engaged.
