For security reasons, Steemit should always give a warning when any link is clicked which takes the user outside of Steemit. Facebook does this for a reason and Steemit needs to at least do this to protect it's users.

Good idea, most popular sites are going to get webhooks regardless, to import media directly to steemit. So all sites, that don't have webhooks in place should be considered as malicious sites.
@dana-edwards How about a small visual cue like below. I just designed a quick external link icon that fits in with the curved nature of the other icons used on Steemit.
I would very much prefer this rather than being pestered with popups for clicking a link which I made sure beforehand matches what I expect it to be.
At the very least, if this is implemented, it ought to be an option and not mandatory.
Exactly, I think the best solution will provide a non-blocking visual cue that is recognizable on both mobile and desktop.
Definitely a good idea, most people don't pay much attention to the URL when they click on links and even if they do they may not be very careful when following a link from a post they just read.
Agreed.
+1. This is urgent.
That's a good idea.
It isn't much of a problem for me because I usually use Steemit on my desktop and I can just hover over a link and chrome will show the address at the bottom of the screen, but it isn't so simple for mobile users.
@dana-edwards thanks for the reminder
Indeed. Plus now that users can hide links behind words/semtences it makes it hard to know where it is taking you and abusers ciuld have a field day tricking people.
100% agreed.
