There's a difference between sharing something here among a community of like-minded people where there's some interaction and taking it and placing it on another platform entirely and putting it under the noses of people who neither know or nor care about the poster, what their life is like or what they are trying to do. Yes, it's on the blockchain and it's immutable, but anyone who cared would have to come and look for it and do some work to find it.
We've had posters in Saturday Savers Club in precarious positions economically, posting for support for how they are trying to turn their lives around and they've been exposed to the braying cesspit that is Twitter. There are other people on here that have fled violence. There is something about being discriminating about what is shared: what is it about the shared post that is going to bring eyes to Hive, rather than just sharing everything and without regard for the poster or their situation.
Then there are people like me who don't want to support the Facebook and Twitter models, and I want to do that even less now watching how the tech bros have such traction in the States. I doubt I ever write anything that is sufficiently interesting for sharing on reddit 😂.
There is a case for sharing some posts and that's great and I've seen some impressive numbers for views. There's work involved and if sharers are getting some rewards for sharing, that's great, too. I ask only that there is some care about what is shared.
Read this earlier but forgot to reply/curate, yes i agree, there are certain cases the sharers should be careful about not sharing. Maybe when posh becomes more commonplace authors could add a footer/note to specifically not share certain posts to make it clear. As I just wrote in another comment, we don't incentivize spamming shares as it'd be a bad look for hive on reddit/other platforms and potentially get the accounts in trouble and shine a bad light on our project/hive, so hopefully sharers take good care of what it is they're sharing so it's not posts that are inappropriate to be shared as some of the examples you mention here.
Yeah, I know you and I have had some of these conversations elsewhere but I thought it would be useful to share them for a wider audience.
Hope you enjoy your holiday when you get there!
Cheers!
