Hi friends,
Do you wonder what the gold medals handed out during the Olympics are actually made of?
The answer is… Gold is is made of silver (with source referenced):

So Olympic Gold Medals are made of mostly silver with some gold - still pretty valuable from a melt standpoint at over $1,000 USD.
Cool, or not cool if you thought they were solid gold!
Thanks for coming by,
Brian
I thought they would have a bit more gold. But being made of mostly silver is a bit expected. Being made of mostly gold would make it too malleable.
All that time and effort training and expenses on top of that just to get a gold medal? I won't melt down my stack of gold maples to make a medal either since I like them the way they are.

You can buy it at the right price. In which the price of gold keeps increasing every day. thank you sir. @brian.rrr
Not much at all
oh that was something new for me, so they mix out Gold and silver and make Gold metals? insane.
Ooh wow
I never knew they were that expensive
Fantastic!
Probably gold should be worth much more or what do you actually think about it
It’s worth a lot of money
So fantastic!
Olympic is cheating
It's so awesome they put a piece of the actual tower on them. In my mind that's better than gold or silver. France killed it with medal design this year. They had iron laying around from safety renos, so add them to the medals. How cool.
Many congratulations to you because we feel very happy after receiving a medal.
