Sketching Vietnamese Temples

in #sketchbook3 years ago

This week in our art shop we created Vietnamese temples with watercolors.

This is a great water color project for people new to or improving their water color technique.

Putting it on Paper

Planning, sketching and refining in pencil, followed by using a fine-point pen when you are super confident with the outline. This allows the water colors to stand out against a dark thin line. Very effective.

Painting Time

Start with a wash for the sky, then for foreground followed by the finer details. Remember to change the brush according to the size of the area you are painting.

Recently, I've started using tissues more to create texture, for example in the sky.

Our Art Shop

For those who aren't yet following me, my wife and I run a small art shop with a variety of art and craft lessons. Our mission is to bring people together and involve more adults in the benefits of taking part in art.
