Snow day! ...again. Sledging at Heage Windmill, UK

So this thing called climate change has gotten our seasons in the UK a little confused. Just when we thought Spring was imminent we got a heavy dollop of the white stuff.

England is not set up for this because we don't normally get a huge amount of snow, so everything grinds to a halt and instead of going to work we get to go sledging!

Having a six-sailed windmill in the village makes for a pretty cool sledging backdrop, and it re-opens to the public on 31st March.

Built in 1797 and restored in 2002, Heage Windmill, a Grade II listed building, is the only working six-sailed stone tower windmill in England. Set in the Derbyshire countryside, it provides spectacular views towards the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site.

Visitors can go on tours of the windmill with guides in traditional milling costume. There is also an Interpretation Centre and a shop selling the windmill’s own flour.

Cool pics.

Yea we got a lot of snow across the water here in Ireland also and like you guys over there we are not set up for snow at all.
I am a member of mountain rescue and we got a record number of call outs because the ambulances were not able to get to peoples homes.

The snow was fun though for the first few days until we ran out of bread and milk :-)

Thanks @scolari-ire I've just looked at the forecast and it's going back to minus figures at night again at the weekend! Seems crazy for late on in March. Mind you, I do remember some years ago a cricket match was snowed off in Buxton in May!

I know, I just saw the forecast, WHEN WILL IT EVER END !!!! :-)
Supposed to start snowing on St Patricks day, thats never happened before!

Snow in May? Ok thats a bit crazy!

The cold front is coming from Iceland this time I think. I cycle to work in shorts, I think I really need to invest in some lycra trousers but I just dont think I have the figure for it :-) so Ill brave the cold weather and stay with shorts

Great pictures, in Germany a lot of snow is normal, here we need to go to work :(

That doesn't seem very fair @enja18, when our incompetence leads to sledging and you guys have to work!
