Online friends in America and Canada keep going on about how cold it is there. Here in Wellington NZ it's the middle of summer right now, but in winter we get real snow and we don't do posts bleating about how cold we are!
Back in the big winter of 2002 we got some serious snow. Waves of snowflakes fell for more than 15 minutes. I went out and took some photos but had to put on a hat and gloves because it was so cold.
For at least an hour the streets were covered with deep snow that I could feel slopping underfoot as I walked. It was pretty harsh out there, and I still talk about that day, every time some Canuck starts going on about snow.
We had snow so deep around the house it was hard to get to the swing chair
