  • It sounds crazy I know, but you can have snow on a tropical island, as long as the mountain is tall enough.
  • This mountain Mauna Kea is over 44,000 foot tall, and is the mountain with the greatest height on earth, as height is measured from base to peak, and this mountains base is on the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. Mt. Everest is the mountain with the tallest altitude, as in measured from sea level to peak.
  • This mountain is a dormant volcano, in Hawaii. It’s sub-equatorial, yet tropical.
  • You can snow ski on this island in the morning, on this mountain, and waterski in the afternoon.
  • You can get a ultraviolet light burn to your eyes from either the glare from the sun due to the altitude, or a ultraviolet burn, as in sunburn, to your skin while water skiing if you don’t wear sunscreen.
  • Pretty crazy, but that’s geography for you.
