Este día quiero compartir algo súper curioso que me pasó en el mes de mayo, justo antes de iniciar en HIVE. Desde entonces había querido contar pero no encontraba el momento hasta ahora.
Todo ocurrió entre el 17 y 19 de Mayo, aunque se venía cocinando desde hacia unas semanas.
Como todos ya saben soy Ingeniero Mecánico y me especializo en el dibujo y diseño industrial, pero no es raro que lleguen a mi propuestas de trabajo en la rama de construcción e ingeniería civil, para lo cual cuento con el asesoramiento y ayuda de uno de mis colegas en esa área.
Desde Abril comencé a tener contacto con un cliente nuevo, (recomendado por mi primo, de hecho mi primo trabaja para El). Este cliente maneja un negocio propio de lácteos, en el llano.
Para los que no lo saben el llano es una hermosa, calurosa y extensa región en Venezuela la cual abarca entre 6 a 7 estados. Se caracteriza por ser una especie de sabana donde abunda la vegetación gramínea, arboles dispersos, abundancia de animales y sobre todo calor (jajaja). En el llano a donde quiera que ves solo hallaras soledad… no se ven montañas a kilómetros.
Estas características la hacen propicia para la actividad de agricultura y ganadería, y donde hay eso, hay dinero y negocios involucrados… y donde hay dinero y negocio siempre encontraran un ingeniero freelancer metiendo sus narices.
Así pues me puse en rumbo al Estado Barinas, dispuesto a conocer a mi empleador y comenzar a trabajar de inmediato. Lo estipulado era llegar y realizar un levantamiento del área total de las instalaciones, escuchar las propuestas del dueño en cuanto a unas remodelaciones y construcciones nuevas que deseaba hacer y luego preparar un presupuesto de los trabajos con una propuesta en CAD. Luego de enviarle la propuesta el dueño, este debía aceptar o no, aunque era casi un hecho de que aceptaría porque para que tomarse tantas molestias en hacerme ir… cierto?
Mi estadía en la granja eran solo 2 días, y terminaron siendo 3, casi 4.
En el viaje de ida pude disfrutar de un paisaje que casi no estoy acostubmbrado a ver, como chico de la ciudad. No solo pude ver los sembradíos sino también las grandes empresas de alimentos típicos de la región
Finalmente luego de 5 horas de carretera llegamos a la granja. Y mi primera impresión fue: Ok es sencilla, pero es hermosa.
Si lo se, solo un Ingeniero puede ver hermosura en un proceso industrial, pero así somos. De hecho es un proceso industrial muy sencillo y casi rural. Acá arriba podemos ver el almacén donde ocurre la mayor parte del trabajo.
Conocí al jefe el cual me sorprendió darme cuenta que era un muchacho mucho mas joven que yo. Un tipo seguro de si mismo, serio y decidido. Aparentemente tenía buen corazón, ya que aunque trataba a sus empleados con dureza les había construido hermosas instalaciones
Justo en esa casa me quede a dormir y debo decirlo, fue una de las noches más largas de mi vida. Porque como es de costumbre en el campo, abundan los insectos, los cuales al sentir mi presencia se subían a mi cama y comenzaban a caminarme encima (JAJAJAJA). Ahora río, pero al principio no fue gracioso.
Al siguiente día con mi mejor actitud comencé el trabajo de recorrer toda la propiedad, y si que era grande, casi 10 hectáreas que tuve que recorrer a pie, con el sol en mi frente y casi 39 °C.
Uno a uno fui visitando cada problema comentado por el dueño y viendo posibles soluciones, en el caso del drenaje:

Medir todo el terreno donde se pretendía construir el nuevo almacén.
Fue un trabajo arduo, pero al final del día había terminado. Al día siguiente cuando ya pretendía regresar a mi casa, el jefe decidió simplemente no viajar y esperar al siguiente día… y al siguiente día salimos tarde por razones que aun desconozco. Sin embargo al fin llegamos a casa y de inmediato me puse a trabajar en mi PC.
El primer paso sería trasladar toda la información física que había recabado al entorno virtual, y el resultado fue esto:
Y con la ayuda de mi colega le dimos al dueño una propuesta de proyecto incluso para una nueva casa para él y su familia a un costo súper razonable.
Y acá fue donde las cosas comenzaron a salir mal… el cliente no respondió, al intentar contactarlo a la siguiente semana su repuesta solo fue que la propuesta no le gustó,… sin ni siquiera hablar al respecto acerca de que mejoras podíamos hacer. Luego desistí para no causarle problemas a mi primo.
Debo decir que ha sido uno de los momentos profesionales más decepcionantes en mi vida. Nunca me habían rechazado así (jajajaja) y lo peor de todo es que ni siquiera me pagó el trabajo inicial.
El campo es un lugar hermoso, pero no perdona a citadinos ingenuos como yo. De verdad esta experiencia fue ruda para mi… al inicio de mi aventura estaba así:

Pero conservo mi buen humor, y pienso que todo lo que nos pasa nos deja enseñanzas… en mi caso la enseñanza fue: El campo no perdona… … … y asegúrate de para la próxima cobrar una parte por adelantado.

This day I want to share something super curious that happened to me in the month of May, just before I started at HIVE. Since then I had wanted to tell but I couldn't find the moment until now.
It all happened between May 17th and 19th , although it had been cooking for a few weeks before.
As you all know I am a Mechanical Engineer and I specialize in drawing and industrial design, but it is not uncommon for me to get proposals for work in the construction and civil engineering branch, for which I have the advice and help of one of my colleagues in that area.
Since April I started to have contact with a new client, (recommended by my cousin, in fact my cousin works for him). This client runs his own milk business, in Los LLanos.
For those who don't know, Los llanos is a beautiful, warm and extensive region in Venezuela that encompasses 6 to 7 states. It is characterized by a kind of savannah where there is abundant grass vegetation, scattered trees, abundance of animals and above all heat (hahaha). In los llanos, wherever you go, you will find only solitude... you will not see mountains for miles.
These characteristics make it perfect to the activity of agriculture, farming and livestock, and where we find that, we find money and business involved ... and where we find money and business you will always find a freelancer engineer sticking his nose in.
So I set off for State of Barinas , ready to meet my employer and start work immediately. The stipulated thing was to arrive and start a study of the total area of the facilities, listen to the owner's proposals regarding some remodeling and new construction he wanted to do and then prepare a budget of the work with a proposal in CAD. After sending the proposal to the owner, he had to accept or not, although it was almost a fact that he would accept because, why go to all the trouble of making me go... right?
My stay on the farm was only 2 days, and it ended up being 3, almost 4.
On the way there I was able to enjoy a landscape that I am hardly used to seeing, as a city boy. Not only could I see the crops but also the large food companies typical of the region
Finally after 5 hours of road we arrived at the farm. And my first impression was: Ok it's simple, but it's beautiful.
I know, only an engineer can see beauty in an industrial process, but that's us. In fact, it's a very simple, almost rural industrial process. Up here we can see the warehouse where most of the work happens.
I met the boss who surprised me by realizing that he was a much younger boy than me. A confident, serious and determined guy. Apparently he had a good heart, because although he treated his employees harshly he had built them beautiful facilities
Right in that house I spent the night and I must say, it was one of the longest nights of my life. Because as usual in the countryside, insects abound, which upon feeling my presence would climb into my bed and begin to walk over me (Ha-ha-ha). Now I laugh, but at first it wasn't funny.
The next day, with my best attitude, I started the work of walking around the whole property, and it was a big one, almost 10 hectares that I had to walk around, with the sun on my forehead and almost 102°F = 39°C.
One by one I visited each problem mentioned by the owner and saw possible solutions, in the case of the drainage:

It was hard work, but by the end of the day it was over. The next day when I was planning to return home, the boss decided to simply not travel and wait for the next day... and the next day we left late for reasons I still don't know. However, we finally got home and I immediately started working on my PC.
The first step would be to move all the physical information I had collected into the virtual environment, and the result was this:
And with the help of my colleague we even gave the owner a project proposal for a new house for him and his family at a super reasonable cost.
And this is where things started to go wrong... the client didn't respond my calls, when I tried to contact him the following week his response was only that he didn't like the proposal,... without even talking about what improvements we could make. Then I gave up so as not to cause problems for my cousin.
I must say that this has been one of the most disappointing professional moments in my life. I've never been rejected like this before (LOL) and the worst part is that I didn't even get paid for the initial work.
The countryside is a beautiful place, but has no mercy to naive city guys like me. This experience was really rough for me... at the beginning of my adventure I was like:

But I keep my good humour, and I think that everything that happens to us leaves us teachings... in my case the teaching was: Countryside has no mercy... ... and make sure that for the next one you get paid first.

Es lamentable que haya resultado así, espero que ese señor tenga su merecido): pero siempre pienso que cualquier viajecito tiene su recompensa, aunque el destino no haya sido tan grato, siempre se disfruta del camino.
Si... es lamentable que haya tanta gente que lo que busca es aprovecharse... pero sinceramente ya solte eso de mi sistema... no permitiré contaminarme con odio ni esas cosas... lo bueno fue la experiencia... negativa pero experiencia al fin
