Prologue
It went very well last Brawl with 1st place and 13 wins before the second - this time
Battle 1 - Extra armor team
Staggering 58 Mana - but no legends allowed. That's not easy. Extra armor, plus every unit gets revived.
Tactic: Using Grandmaster Rathe to take full advantage of the armor, and Arkemis for even more armor. Pegasus for Shatter. Olivia for Mimic - using her in brawls is always a good idea, since she can mimic Bloodlust, and that is a highly effective with her Opportunity.
Olivia got Blast early on, and that helped tremendously. Also, the enemy damage was split - Reaper was attacking the pegasus, Katie and Skyclaw the Rebel, and the rest the tank.
Arkemis' actually shot into his own foot by halving the damage of his enemies, since they only would've done 1 damage due to Forcefield - but now did 3.
My team always revived with full void-armor - and that was the key here, giving them a lot longer life than the opponents. The shatter actually did not do a lot of good, I could've changed that for a Repair-Unit.
Battle 2 - Similar builds, but huge differences
This time I set by tactic full on speed, and one monster - the Coeurl lurker with both Dodge and Phase. Usually not the worst tactic, given the ruleset - Extra armor (hence piercing from Jacek), enrage (giving the lurker extra speed and damage if hit), and only neutrals. But my opponent countered perfectly with Risquel, giving two of his untis True Strike (they never miss) and Impede (lowering speed when hit).
Another thing I didn't take into account was the Scattershot - my magic attackers hurt their Venka, giving him 9 attack damge through enrage. Thanks to that, they took out my lurker in the first round, and the rest was easy for them.
Battle 3 - Can you spot the mistake?
Double-Weaponstraining is a favorite of mine, preferably including magic. In this one, I trained a scavenger-monster, hoping to get a high-LP double damage monster if my big tanks fail. But in the rest of the line-up I did do a quite a mistake - can you spot it?
In the end, I won because my team was just better. But if the opponent had chosen a little differently, I wouldn't.
Answer to the question
It's the Hireling. I don't have any armor in my team, so the Merdaali Guardian or another trainable unit would've made more sense.
I had first appointed Keyla to this battle, but then switched to Quix for the Scavenger. But I did not change the Hireling.
Not my best battle in this brawl, but I learned.
Conclusion
Not my favorite brawl. In the end, we got 1st place with a 3 win lead. Nothing to write home about, and my performance wasn't the best - I usually don't encounter Tofu here, but this time I did, twice, and lost both battles since I wasn't prepared for it.
I personally ended with 3 wins and 3 losses, plus 2 fleds and one win without contestant. Last brawl was a lot better, with 8 wins and 1 loss. But I had weaker opponents, and there was no real fun in that brawl. In this one, at least 3 battles are worth mentioning :-D
