SC : @splinterlands
When the Chaos Legion entered the Splinterlands through the great volcano in the center of Praetoria, they saw the lava spiders and used them to their advantage. Transporting these spiders into areas that need defense is a win-win for both groups. For the Chaos Legion, it is an easy barrier to ward off unwanted visitors. And for the lava spiders, they get free meals from the curious, the foolish, and the unwary adventurers that seek to strike at the Chaos Legion.
BATTLE LINK : Battle Replay
My Line Up Explanation :
- leagues = Silver 3
- Noxious fumes = All monsters start the battle poisoned, just make sure you bring "cleanse"
- Rise of the Common = only common and rare monsters may be used in battles
- 20 mana = included as low mana, so need low mana monsters while has high health which lava spider pass the requirement
- summoner = only death can't be used
Summoner
In the current playable summoner in fire splinter I have to chose between two fire summoner Tarsa Giving +1 health and melee attack or Pyre giving +1 buff to monsters speed and Tarsa is my chosen Summoner simply because i thought will be more useful than Pyre in this ruleset of poisoned, its the battle of tanks so I need the +1 attack to kill enemy monsters faster and also the +1 health will be given to my monsters so my monster will survive longer than the enemy monsters from the poison
First Position
Usually in the first position everyone will put tank in play but in this case I used radiated scorcher as my tank because this monster is faster than my main tank, living lava. With 1 mana, he got 1 melee damage I need that little attack to make enemy monsters suffer damage as well as need him as shield for my main tank. with speed faster than my living lava its good to put this in front of living lava because it will attack faster than living lava. You dont want your monster to get killed without doing anything right?.
Second Monster
In the noxious fumes ruleset, its all about tank battle in my opinion so we need to bring a tank that has lot of health and hard to kill, in free playable card in fire splinter that consider as tank is only the living lava which is hard to kill especially when enemy monster use lot of melee damage, on level 1 he already has shield ability, I prefer chose him rather than elven defender cause its only need 7 mana while elven defender need 8 mana to use and the survivability of living lava is higher than elven defender.
Third Monster
It's pretty obvious for the third monster i would chose this-weekly challenge monster-Lava Spider because I thought it will be pretty good to put in the third position to make sure my scavo chemist is safe from snipe monster ability therefore he will be able to cast cleanse to my tank, once our tank get cleanse from poison debuff it will make our chance to win the battle higher. the monsters that have snipe ability in this case are swamping narval and mantoid
Fourth Monsters
The fourth position is scavo chemist, one of the main monsters that has to be chosen in every noxiuos fumes ruleset especially in lower level leagues, the playable monsters that has cleanse are from chaos legion edition was scavo chemist from the fire splinter and river nymph in the water splinter. because this week battle challenge-monsters was in fire splinter so its the best choice to go with scavo chemist, I put him in fourth position to be safe from any attack cause it will be in between of two monsters
Fifth Monsters
Last but not least, the sixth monster for me is Serpentine Spy. Actually the reason to put this monsters in the last position is to make scavo chemist safe till he cast cleanse on living lava, it does not matter if this mosters die from sneak attack that maybe use by my enemy, cause obviously the poison from noxious fumes ruleset will eventually kill it. the speed that serpentine spy has is a good bargain to use because that speed could attack enemy monsters earlier which is good to kill any enemy monsters that has low health.
Did My Strategy Worked?
Putting the lava spider in front of scavo chemist makes my tank got cleanse and works perfectly on this situation, I got quite surprise by enemey line up instead of using fire and water splinter that has cleanse monsters as I mention before, he chose the earth splinter instead. and also one thing that I highlight is the attack of lava spider to enemy Goblin Phisics that make him lose 1 health and later after the poison effect applied the goblin directly die.
About Lava Spider
What i like about this monster :
- Low Mana Cost and Not an Epic or Legendary Monster, these status gave him opportunity to played on almost all rules except the disabled of ranged monster and fire element;
- Got snipe ability with high health. This combination allows you to got more split attack to break enemy buff or debuffer.
What i don't like about this monster:
- Low ranged attack. With only 1 ranged stat, this monster will struggled to kill enemy on one strike, it is worsened by his 2 speed not really good speed to rely on his attack.
- This monster is a so-so monster, not an ultimate monster that will give you the best stats or ability. But as a filler it is good and if you need monsters with high health then it will be useful.
When to Use Lava Spider
I suggest you to use this monster only for this situation:
- When you need a tanker for your main buff or the debuffer from enemy snipe monsters. his 5 health on level 3 is a nice bargain to spend with 3 mana;
- On low mana ruleset. This ruleset caused many monster (that have more than 4 mana) cannot be used. Lava Spider cost 3 mana, with 4 health and snipe ability. So you can use him as a pretty useful tanker in the backline;
- On reverse speed ruleset. His lame 2 speed will turn up into a great advantage on reverse speed ruleset that makes him one of the fastest monster on the field.
When to Avoid using Lava Spider :
I don't recommend you to use this monster for this situation below:
- On a battle with very low mana to spend. Eventough this monster is a pretty nice bargain with 4 mana cost and 6 health and reach ability, but on a very low mana battle like 12, you dont need a his health and cannot relly on him to win the battles. It's not just about his very slow speed, but also his low atk, not to mention lava spider is ranged attack that will be useless once he is in the first position. you need more damage to win the battle,. You should look up into another monster that more efficient on this situation, as the fire splinter it is a good choice to focus on melee damage monsters instead
- On a battle with a very high mana to spend. With many mana that you can use, there comes many chance for a better monster that having a better stats, ability, or buff to comes on the field. Like i've said it before, this monster is not an ultimate monster with best stats nor ability.
