Yeah, they need to hurry up. There are more players now than ever before, but there are no packs, no reward cards, or anything else to buy or win. The card prices just keep rising.
The thing is, the game probably will just keep getting more and more expensive as it gets popular. Advanced level play may not be an option for everyone.
People are waiting for the new Chaos Legion packs, but I think they might be surprised/disappointed when they find out just how much many packs you have to buy to get all of your cards to high levels, or especially max level. They might be disappointed when they find out how much SPS they have to have staked, too.
But many people are prepared. They're staking their SPS, they're still buying cards. The game is growing... there might be some people who drop off at this point, but I think there will always be new ones.
