Splinterlands Art Contest! // Week 161 // Gargoya lion

Hey,
This is my very first post on this platform. After I have discovered this Art contest I've decided to give it a shot. You can find the final version of my drawing right below.

Why I chose Gargoya lion

The powerful aura of this creature was the main reason for picking this card. I really liked the aggressive expression on his face. As a neutral monster the Gargoya lion is a great addition to every line-up.

The drawing proccess

step1: creating the bare shape of the face

step 2: adding the facial hair

the final version of the Gargoya's head

step 3: combining the head and the body

step 4: working on the wings

glance on the finished wing

step 5: the background

step 6: merging all parts and working on shadows and contours

In the end, i'm pretty satisfied by the result and how it all worked out. I know this picture does not look exactly like the original Gargoya lion, but it is my personal interpretation of the monster and I hope you like it.
