My Art - Bird-of-Paradise

Hello Spunkee Monkees and Steemit Community

This is one of my newer drawings.

We had gone to an exhibit at our local science museum on "Birds of Paradise". They were so impressive to me that I wanted to do my next art drawing with them.

This drawing is done in colored pencil and is 14x18 inches. Took me a while!

This is my drawing of the Red bird-of-paradise (or paradisaea rubra)

Here are some facts about birds-of-paradise:

• Most species of birds-of-paradise are found on the island of New Guinea.

• Their diet consists mostly of fruits, berries and insects.

• Although most species of birds-of-paradise are not seriously threatened, they are seeing a decline in population due to deforestation.

• There are about 40 species of birds-of-paradise.

• The constellation Apus depicts a bird-of-paradise.

I love that you not only drew a beautiful picture - but told us facts about the bird too! you know - when I saw the title - I thought you meant the flower "bird of paradise" hehehee and when i see this bird - i see why they call the flower this too! they look very similar! :)
