One of the main pieces of community feedback so far about Steem-Roller.com have been that the current GUI (pictured below) feels dated and somewhat like a crappy 90's site or some shady darkweb service.. This feedback has been incredibly valueable to the development of the site and thus an alternative GUI is being planned to provide another option for interacting with the site as well as taking a slightly less archaic approach to the site layout and functions.
While the current / old GUI was supposed to make the site look modern and allow easy access to the functions of the service it seems I'd strayed away from what was actually intuitive and ended up with something that was clunky and less than appealing to most users.. With that being said the new GUI design is currently being polished and the current functionality of the site is being ported over. This will take a while and in the mean time we will continue to use the current GUI.
If you'd like to check out the work in progress new site design (which may contain more bugs than the current one) you can check it out at https://www.steem-roller.com/index2.html for the time being. It is currently quite alpha, meaning it's got a lot of stuff that doesn't work or hasn't been implemented yet but as this upcoming week goes on I'll be trying my best to get it up to snuff.
Sadly the new GUI design is even worse optimized for mobile devices than the current site design and it's not suggested that users use their mobile devices on the new GUI until it's had some serious work done to it. After both GUI's are complete both of them may be offered in a fashion of Steem-Roller.com "classic" and 'modern".. Or perhaps we'll get rid of the old GUI all together.. We shall see.
#thedegensloth is also presumably working on a GUI design as well. So if that follows through and we end up with 3 different GUIs that would be neat.. The most popular / used / optimized ones will have a long and prosperous deployment, the losers will likely get canned.
Lots of back end and front end stuff left to do on the site however it is coming closer and closer to a full launch. We've got a small group of players and investors that make the community a blast with tons of humour and good converstaion. That new layout looks really nice. Can't wait until I have a chance to log in and see it in action. Also, I'm liking the greed multiplier. 100X is my kind of Greed!
