What fuckery is this? HF 23 funds sent to Bittrex

in #steem4 years ago

So, HF 23 on Steem was highly contentious. It took 23.6M steem from 64 users, and it sent them to @community321. What appears to be a white hat action then took those funds from @community321 and transferred them to bittrex with the memo "these are funds stolen by steem witnesses using HF23 May 20th 2020 - please return them to their original owners prior to the fork :)"

That's not a normal memo to bittrex. That's not going into a personal account. Someone is trusting Bittrex, which keeps showing that they are an awesome exchange, to do the morally correct thing and return the stolen funds back to the 64 accounts that were stolen from. If this was merely theft of those funds to a private bittrex account the memo would have been something like 35234ssffds234 as an account instruction, but the text message puts it as a funds transfer to bittrex without instruction to go into an individual account.

What will bittrex do?

Someone either as a white hat hacker or as an inside job got access to the @community321 accounts, transfered the steem to bittrex, and is expecting them to not just keep the steem but disperse it back to the original owners. What a crazy story!

Bittrex was chosen for good reason.
Only safe place from another hard fork by Justin's sock puppets.

Nothing is safe on steem, it's being run by gangsters. It wouldn't surprise me if thet fork out the Bittrex account. It will be their demise.

Only safe place from another hard fork by Justin's sock puppets.

Why is bittrex safe? With hardforks, anything is on the table. Another HF could subtract the stolen fund balance from bittrex's account and send it to a Sun puppet account. I don't think this would be any less flagrant than the Steem-HF23.

It is an incredible embarrassment to Sun that he botched the theft.

It seems to me that you can already start making a film or series about the STEEM / HIVE confrontation

a TELENOVELA cause all this Drama is too much for a movie

I agree) - this is all in our favor - information tapes explode) BOOM

The big question is what will Bittrex do now.

The big question is "Do you like Justin Sun or you just want to fuck him?".

WHAT A LEGEND!

I love the last memo to Justinsun.
Translated it says: Stealing is bad haha :D

Crazy development! Sitting here with popcorn and refreshing twitter and Peakd every minute

Lol... That's not wanting the action!

This is better than Netflix

I just can agree... that's a really crazy story! 😳
Thank's for the post - I had missed it.

LOL yet another plot twist oh how the drama never ends

Great title! It all beggars belief... Trying to figure out how to move my Steem to Hive, with @blocktrades out the picture (and my being clueless):o

Ha, ha, ha. You and me both! 😱

Lemme know if you figure anything out, please (that's easy enough for an idiot to follow :P

Ha, ha, ha. Will do. But it proabably makes a difference what country your're in . . . or maybe not . . . what do I know? 😁

:P In the US... Will give @ionomy a try... Fingers and eyes crossed!

I'll take a look at them. Do you already have an account?

Nope, just signed up... It only took a minute :) Good luck.

You can use ionomy exchange. They have both coins listed and an instant sign up. Transfer there. Sell steem buy hive transfer to hive account.

Thanks, for the tip. Last I heard couple of people had trouble with @ionomy (site down, coins took too long to transfer). Will look into it, though, and hope it's easy to use.

"Deposits and withdrawals are currently disabled for STEEM until further notice."
from @ionomy

Must be with the hardfork. I used it earlier and it was fine. Trying to sell as much as i can before the dump. It's been a really handy little exchange for me at least. Never had a problem with speed or trading.

There is also a HIVE market on https://next.steem-engine.com/exchange/HIVEP but i wouldnt expect it to be great for trading. Not much liquidity.

I'm grateful for the tip. Should have some Steem to sell tomorrow and might ask you for a step by step how to transfer it to Ionomy and then back to Hive?

Ya no worries if you need some help. There is nothing much too it as long as ionomy is taking deposits again.

This is awesome. I can't wait to see what happens next

The suspense is killing me, when's the next episode coming out? :P

This is a quite a plot!

wow, crazy shit

I just love what happened for the truths it revealed (the incompetence of Steemit). There are many eyes on Bittrex. They could convert the STEEM to HIVE at the exchange rate at the time of HF 23 and send them to the hive accounts or do something entirely different. As long as the Steemit doesn't get it, I will be happy. At the absolute minimum I expect Bittrex to burn the funds.

Where's Marky when we need popcorn?

Twist in a tale. Loving it

Just insane what happened after the hostile takeover, the whole Tron/Steem/Ned fiasco is getting more and more ridiculous.

@aggroed i think this story should make it to Money heist season 5. What do you think 😂

And the thick keeps plotting!

We are witnessing a crypto miracle. Merry Christmas!

The best Story everrrrrrr since I joined in June 2016 !!!!!

That EPICNESS! IT'S KILLING ME!

It's certainly going to reveal just how trustworthy CZ is.

Were I one of the heisted victims, I wouldn't expect one satoshi back, because I think CZ deliberately handed the funds of his clients VP to Sun, and is in Sun's pocket.

So, we're going to see if CZ will participate in the heist of the tokens as an accomplice of Sun Yuchen completely, undeniably in the public eye, or if he actually sends those funds to their owners. The longer he takes to act, the more conflicted we will know he is.

He hasn't acted yet.

He'll have to conjure up some vague attempt at plausible deniability to participate in the heist, which I reckon will take about a week.

What an insane turn of events. I been away for a better part of 2 months and this is one of the first updates I read on the tron/steem/hive fiasco.
