Kød er den bløde del af det hudindpakne dyr og fastgjort til knoglen, der fodrer fødevaren. Kød består hovedsageligt af muskelvæv, kombineret med det fedt, der er fastgjort til det, sener og brusk.
Som en kommerciel vare er kød sædvanligvis fastgjort til de store dyr (pattedyr og reptiler). Denne slags kød kaldes også "rødt kød" og handles i form af stykker, mens fisk, amfibier, havdyr og fjerkræ ikke omfatter kødvarer, fordi det kan handles intakt. Ikke-råvarekød kaldes også "hvidt kød".
