What services or products would increase the value of STEEM?

in #steem5 years ago (edited)

We need more use cases for STEEM.

Powering up to reward others is NOT enough (I hope that's obvious to everyone at this point).

Speculation on STEEM is minimal because of the above (and the issues with STINC development / communication / marketing / leadership / operations).

What do you think would bring some value to STEEM and give people a REAL reason to want to buy?

OK! Lots of comments already here, but I just want to put this on the table - you can spend money and time trying to convince people/businesses to adopt Steem, or you can spend time and money helping people who have already adopted Steem make money.

The folks here; from the largest whales down to the pauper who cashes in Steem as soon as it is earned, just to buy food - all of them came here to make money!

Do these things:

Offer an easily accessible marketplace where people can sell products and services for Steem . Make it like a hybrid/cross between Upwork. Etsy and Fiverr.

Give folks with expertise a way to teach others marketable skills for Steem.

Separate the Actifit and game report posts from the works of fiction and art.

There are programmers/coders already invested in Steem. Pay them Steem to improve the interfaces and make everything more inviting and easy for newcomers,

Thanks for asking! 😘

Those are all great suggestions. I'd love to see something like a marketplace you mention above.

It could definitely help! Thanks!

With a better ability to sift through all the content or some sort of condenser that grouped pertinent topics e.g. crypto with subsets into more specific streams steem could solidify itself as the crypto 101 platform.

For me personally the edification I’ve gotten here has been the most tangible value and I’d imagine would appeal to the masses of people that really don’t know wtf a blockchain is or could be etc.

Also, not having an up to date well designed mobile dapp is pathetic af. Yes, I’m using partiko now and it’s annoying and spamming the shit out of steem but the fact remains it’s the only semi decent mobile front end. That’s sad considering it’s dev abandoned the project and it’s not running “new steem”

It’s almost 2020 and for a technology that’s supposed to be innovative, hip and all that shit not having a fluid intuitive mobile first design is unforgivable..

Building a community around a currency is backwards and the wrong approach so I’m not holding my breath on the SE token tribe thing, not to mention that page is a complete joke. I don’t even dare waste my time trying to claim micro penny tokens on that school project looking site.

So, I’m not trying to just blast the movement I’m just saying if this is the best it’s going to get after 6 months it’s laughable and we should fix the existing projects that were supposed to add value to the platform because as of now it’s a big fail imho.

I agree with the vast majority of this statement.

I agree as well. Partiko has been great but mobile needs to be catered heavily.
I've been asking for emojis for such a long time because they are an important key in drawing "the masses".

Partiko and those comment/post signatures are obnoxious.

If that's not clear enough, I am NOT a fan of @partiko and their obnoxious "marketing".

Comments with a @partiko signature will not be receiving any votes from me.

I hate the obnoxious marketing as well. However the app has been great to use and is why I over looked that. I only interface with steem through my phone so I need a mobile app!

Posted using Partiko Android

I personally don't mind the marketing tidbit from Partiko since I don't think they could really market that well without having a signature there.

They had plenty of users who would've advertised for a simple upvote. Forcing someone to put a signature on every comment is sort of being a nuisance and seemed unnessecary in my opinion.
I made an ad for them and they never upvoted me for my support.

Posted using Partiko Android

i thought they will remove it in time, but from what i got, maker of it is somewhere in china now and don't have access to do anything. after the HF it was down for some time.

for now there is no better mobile app for steem, unfortunately.

partiko isn’t bad I’m using it as well, but i wonder why they kinda abandoned the app, seems no communication at all since months...

You never know what goes on in another person's life sometimes. I dont think @partiko had many developers. @crypto.talk any info that would help our questions?

Posted using Partiko Android

Do you use an iOS phone? I use Steemify and it’s a great mobile App.

Thanks! I’ll check it out.

Okay, here’s the link in the Apple store.
Steemify by B Rexwinkel https://apps.apple.com/us/app/steemify/id1290154477

I wrote a review for a contest also.
https://steemit.com/steemify/@shortsegments/steemify-the-application-i-use-everyday

Mobile app for sure. I would also say an simple way to get rewards from crypto to fiat. That comes with more engagement on the blockchain though. Places like Coinbase won't list something without any exposure to the masses.

Being advertised on craigslist would be perfect.

partiko available already

Something that requires steem to be burned, one thing that investors/speculators look at is the inflation rate so we need to offset the new steem to help lower liquid steem supply

Even though I'm burning PORN while it's just getting up and building their user base, I don't believe this is a long-term solution. It's been tried many, many times by many different tokens and rarely does it work out for the better.

Maybe if we introduce a CD model, where you can lock steem up for months/years for a return. Also implement a penalty if you unlock your coins before the terms expire. The longer you lock it up the more return you will make...

There isn't a lot of options to burn steem. As someone who provides a service burning steem as payment doesn't pay their expenses, labor, or give them any profit.

Some use cases where Steem can be burned:

  • SMT token creation
  • Community creation
  • Promotion mixed in with trending

The first two wouldn't likely burn enough Steem to really make any difference. Three is the best hope and even that won't even remotely keep pace with inflation.

  • Steem fees to swap SMTs? I know we want Steem to remain “fee-less” but I feel like some fees need to happen that scale with use. Steem would remain free to transfer, etc so I think we could maintain the “fee-less” slogan
  • Instant Power downs that scale with amount powering down and time? Say 10% fee for 1 day, 8% for 1 week, etc.
  • fee to use more than X number of tags on a post? For people who want to try to earn 6 SMTs, you will need to pay for that privilege
  • fee to increase payout window for post beyond 7 days? Each vote would still take 7 days to payout but if you pay a fee, your post can earn for let’s say 1 month instead of 7 days.

Just thinking out loud here.

  • Fee to directly publish your post on someone’s feed. Say I want you to see my most recent post. I could pay a fee to have it show up in your feed. That could lead to problems but at least Steem would get burned. It would be like promotion but in a different way. Say a company wanted to send their product advertisement directly to people without people needing to find it in trending. Users would have the ability to ignore these.

Hi @sepracore

In my opinion "free to use" and "no fees" is just a marketing tool, that is misleading everyone around us. Maintaning nodes and entire infrastructure is costly and we're ending up witnessing STINC dumping tons of STEEM on montly basis - just to cover those costs. Hidden cost, that's what it is.

I rather pay small fee for each transaction.

We need a front end that is entirely share to steem and vice versa.
Lot's of content creators are needed amd I'm not just talking about amateurs.
Example I tweet, it is posted to all the 100+ other SNS I am a member of. If the people engage, it notifies me and I can comment without thinking which platform to respond on.
This would be one hell of a project, many have tried, no one has got it right and we end up with engagement all over the place.

That would be pretty cool.

This would definitely do it. Users want ease! Make it easy to post and when you post on steem, you post everywhere. Like a share2steem. The blockchain that figures this out will win.

The commenting all in one place is key. A cross platform ranking, reward and post system is needed so people can act like they all engage in the same place without even being aware. Search engines do it.

@engrave is one good example since they offer a better product than Blogger.com, and a cheaper and in some ways better product than Wordpress.

I also found @buildteam's @tokenbb product to be competitive.

Projects like that who are building despite this bear market will surely do well once the bull market ensues IMO.

A STEEM-based patreon supported by a condenser widget.

Many creators in the niche Steem ought to target relies heavily on their support through patreon. But last time I checked, the platform fees are way larger than what you would pay to buy into crypto, support a creator, and then have them sell into fiat again. Another smaller problem is that it is not really built into the platform the creators use (such as YouTube) and must instead be shared as a fugly link.

Having a STEEM-based patreon could create more demand for STEEM both directly and indirectly. The first being obvious and the second referring to how it would also help make Steem a more attractive platform for creators to have their content and drive their audience, as we really need more good reasons for people to choose steemit/steempeak etc over way more attractive platforms like medium. Finally, it is something people could use without making the full move to a Steem front-end and still create demand for Steem. Imo, more products that are Steem-based that users can use directly from their existing websites, blogs and content channels without making the full move over is good.

Edit: oh and maybe more creators would care to share their content and increase engagement if there was some added revenue stream that scaled with the number of followers who truly gave a shit.

Internally, I'd like to see a lot more numbers and analytics that people can use to gauge their various progress more easily. Gamify it a bit more without Steem earnings being the only metric.

That was always something @ned spoke about. Never came to fruition, I'm shocked.

Soon. :D

Maybe if you people could burn steem to customize their pages.

Like I would love to get myself a custom background on my profile page every time people visit it.

(Guess it would burn a little bit of steem ¯_(ツ)_/¯ )

A site is not blockchain. Solution should be sought at the blockchain level.

Yeah, I am not the brightest sun in the milky way galaxy.

Maybe make steem easier to use for new comers, people are busy nowadays, we don't have time to figure out how steem works really.

I agree with you, this is a problem that I faced personally when introduce steem through events. Sign up, waiting time is too long and people forget about it after sometimes.

That has been a long standing issue. There has never been any attention paid to developers or consumers.

sad sad

I see with happiness that others have the same ideas. Posted a couple of days kind of the same question and use cases. I think removal of Steem from the rewards and replacing it with some SMT. Steem shall be produced only by witnesses and needed as resource credit and power up for SMT use and also the to go version for exchanges.

I couldn't disagree more. Our witnesses have proven to be completely useless and irresponsible. It's nothing more than a popularity contest and likely one of the largest flaws within STEEM.

The way it is handled and that only 20 count leads to such mess. It was a suggestion with SMTs working, where this might be a far away thing like everything from Soon Inc

The only thing I can think of is a partnership with some massive company that has tons of customers. There is no other reason for investors to dump money into this black hole, (for the reasons you mentioned).

Rather than massive companies -- I feel like the same effect could be achieved with a focus on small businesses. I wrote a comment above w/ a use-case of a cafe and loyalty-cards.

  • Cafe-X powers up such that it can dish out, say, a $0.50 USD upvote.
  • Cafe-X creates accounts for their customers, and a simple smartphone app that allows them to see their balance, and that's about it;
  • Cafe-X has a QR code on their counter where you can "check-in" / "review" / "Whatever" on STEEMTM
  • Patron gets an upvote on their automated 'micro-blog-thing';
  • Patron can redeem $5 worth of STEEM for a $4 coffee after they've accumulated enough.
  • Cafe-X accepts STEEM for the coffee, rather than the nothing they currently accept w/ loyalty programs;
  • Cafe-X can then exchange STEEM for fiat if desired.

The problem being the spread and scope of the partnerships. The loyalty card would be a really cool use-case/experiment but it would take a concerted effort, time, and large enough customer base to gain enough traction to get noticed by "money".

I know I am talking to the wind, but Steem needs a two pointed attack. One side towards the many small businesses and the other focused on the large established companies.

Powering up to reward content is a dead end for any investor not already on the platform. But then this is the problem with ALL crypto right now, real world uses.

Certainly agree with what you're saying here.

Though, I think the small~medium sized business is still the way to go. I've got some interesting ideas for how to eventually start approaching some local businesses (as well as the company that I work for) for partnerships w/ my EXHAUST project -- which I wont go into detail on.

At the end of the day though, all of these use cases ultimately rely on, at some point, the "exit" of turning STEEM into fiat (until some unlikely day when maybe grocery stores and landlords start accepting STEEM).

Maybe in the points listed in my initial comment, where I suggest that "cafe owner is now receiving STEEM rather than the nothing their loyalty cards previously got them", maybe a portion (or all) the received tokens could be burnt.

But that just raises the question of "why bother using Steem at all?". So who knows...?

The lynch pin is still the need for fiat. We are fighting a bigger problem which is crypto adoption in general. I hope you are able to get some solid integration going to help bring more uses to Steem.

I am not a salesman and have little ability to effectively communicate to a business owner the benefits of using Crypto. That's why I appreciate the efforts of those like yourself to try and push.

This is actually some great thinking :)

I just don't see that happening at this point. Too far down that black hole.

Namely at the scale needed to bring in the bigger investors. Little partnerships have limited scope and draw for large investors.

Well ever since the beginning of Steemit 3 years ago I noticed there was a lot more possible than just a blogging site, and the world I imagined was basically The Oasis on the Steem blockchain..

https://steemit.com/vr/@stealthtrader/the-future-steemit-digital-world

Which this was before the film, and also before Decentraland.. However now with Splinterlands becoming popular.. I really think a VR/AR world for Splinterlands would take Steem so far into the future it wont even be funny!

https://steemit.com/vr/@stealthtrader/steem-monsters-splinterlands-vr

Imagine playing and earning DEC, Steem, or any other crypto you can trade for.. All by playing, owning, trading, and battling in this Virtual world!!

I am not sure how possible this is, but if it happens one day I see Steem being a global force, and Splinterlands putting Pokémon Go to shame.

I don't see why that wouldn't possible, however, what's the incentive for someone independent to build it? You'd have to have a lot of stake in the game to make it worthwhile.

I wonder if there is a way to decentralize building something like this, and possibly have a payout pool from the game to developers who complete certain tasks to fund this.. 🤔

Posted using Partiko iOS

I’d see an easier path being to partner with an existing game or project and do the dev work to integrate the Steem blockchain, rather than building an entire game from scratch! Project Entropia comes to mind... I played around with the game many years ago intrigued by its early foray into an rpg with a real cash economy. They also license their tech/platform to businesses to create their own gameworlds.
http://www.entropiaplatform.com/entropia-platform/
If someone were to pull together a serious dev team and craft a workable proposal, I could see a Steem planet potentially being exciting enough to secure SPS funding.
But... it’s not like Entropia itself ever became a huge game (I don’t think...) so it still all comes down to making and marketing a great game/app! There’s also competition against game focused crypto projects like Enjin Coin to consider... 🤔

That's a great idea! I would love to see big time devs get excited about the possibilities here!

I'd personally like to see it pair with a company like JM Bullion... I buy silver from them.. they already accept BTC..

How would that work?

If people use STEEM to buy silver, JM Bullion would have to sell that STEEM to get to FIAT anyways...same result in the end.

It doesn't matter if they sell it for fiat or not.. just accepting it as payment for goods would be enough.. the more places that accept it the more value it has.. imo anyway

Start some serious marketing.

Posted using Partiko iOS

Until there's something worth marketing, there's no reason to waste funds.

sadly, this is the truth in a shell

Encrypted cloud data storage where people can store their non-sensitive files and can access or share from anywhere. Similar to Dropbox or box. Since Steem basically a big database, files can be encrypted, shredded and stored on the chain as custom_json. Users' Steem keys would put pieces back together and decrypt them.

Because transaction amounts require resource credits and RC requires Steem Power, users would need to have enough SP to use the app/service. Otherwise, they get to store their data and access it from anywhere for free.

It not obvious to me that POB doesn't work at all, because we've never had an economic system since inception that made any sense.

POB requires honest voting, that is to say a decent correlation between one's subjective opinion of content and it's rewards and exposure. All we know for certain is that if this process is completely undermined and out competed by vote selling, circle jerking, self voting etc. then the platform isn't worth shit. Maybe it still wouldn't be worth shit anyway, but I'm optimistic that that's not the case. We've just never had it before so we simply don't know.

Thankfully the economics is no longer directly rewarding dishonest voting 4x more than honest voting. So it's worth fighting for a functional system, we may be slowly working towards it. Everyone needs to compete fairly on the basis of their content to attract votes. We can't accept vote buying/vote selling as the norm, because then we're back in the dark ages again. What I find especially bad is when vote sellers get people to dump steem for their shitcoin which is then used to buy votes. This not only undermines competitive honest voting, it puts downward pressure on Steem price at the same time and we should fight against this.

  1. Saves Steem instead of money. If you are in the habit of saving, then you should do it in Steem. If you invest in Steem Power, and if you only support other people's posts, you earn a minimum of 19% in Steem yearly. If we look at the future then I'm sure the value of Steem will be very high. We have the ability to invest and earn a minimum of 19% a year in Steem and plus 10 to 100 times in dollars when the value of Steem goes up.

  2. Engage companies to accept Steem as a payment method. Tell your hairdresser, dentist, doctor, counsellor, fitness trainer, etc. that you want to pay them in Steem. Tell them to post on their website to accept Steem, because that way you can get them more new clients. This gives Steem added value because now we can directly buy products and services with Steem.

  3. If you own a business, then give benefits to customers when they pay at Steem. This way you will attract the Steem family and of course, Steem will have a bigger turnover, which is good for both your company and Steem. Every user should promote these capabilities to friends who have businesses, every user who owns a business should accept Steem as a payment method.

Yes we need more real use cases for steem so it can become a "currency".

Posted using Partiko Android

We need emojis...
We also need better ways of encouraging steem trading directly on the platform. An actual market would be key in steems success.

Posted using Partiko Android

I've been thinking on this a bit, and I feel like the idea of "powering up to reward others" MIGHT be enough, in certain circumstances -- like that of a small-business -- IF said small-business owner is willing to accept STEEM / SBD in the same sense that many places accept AirMiles (or other loyalty program points).

  • Cafe Owner? Toss a little "Check-in" QR code scanner on your counter, and you can have it programmatically upvote people that have a twitter-esque 'micro-blog' about enjoying your shitty coffee.
  • Cafe-patron accumulates say, 50-STEEM eventually (or some arbitrary equivalent based on current STEEM prices), and you can redeem your STEEM for an americano or something like that.
  • Cafe-Owner can then exchange accumulated STEEM for fiat / power-up / whatever else.

Though, all of this requires a shift AWAY from the idea that Steem needs to be the home of well-written blogs, concise articles, and profound discussions -- not that it ever has been.

I don’t know about what services we would need here, but what I think is the main selling point for Steemit is its censorship resistanse. Places like Facebook, Instagram and Youtube are getting increasingly tight with their regulations, essentially limiting freedom of speech and being very calculated in what they want people to post and see. And no, this ain’t just about freethenipple but the freedom of expressing opinions that are less politically correct and even joking about sensitive subjects is becoming forbitten. Steemit really needs to tap into the market of people who want to speak freely, no matter how far right/left their political views are.

I think the key to the steem economy is the same key to the real economy...small businesses.

I have started a digital marketing company in the real world with a partner. I am incorporating steem in the strategy in the form of a business account for our company to show the way. It will enable us to write external reviews/spotlights of our clients they can link on their social media. It will also provide a link back to their website which is valuable for social media. Then, I can help them start a steem account and assign it to the person who does their social media to help diversify income best case.

A hundred thousand small businesses buying an powering up $100 worth of steem is a gradual 10 million$ pump.

I think the value of steem gets a boost with small businesses.

Posted using Partiko iOS

Increase its implied value by posting a ton more about Steem and mentioning it regularly on YouTube. Twitter feeds and Facebook aren't doing much. Many people are actively listening when on YouTube vs mindless surfing on other social media platforms.

We could also have some type of landing page of "here's how to develop on Steem" so programmers can easily find ways to start experimenting without the need to learn a lot of other complicated facets. It's on Steem.com, but not prominent on Steemit.com where people would likely get their first experience from.

Lastly, real keyword search capabilities so people can stop thinking "the last few weeks" and enjoy years of buried content... which would also allow us to be more searchable on Google I presume.

Seeing stuff like this https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@bitshoppy.store/bitshoppy-announces-a-crypto-meme-contest-with-usd500-in-prices

Then realise they don’t accept STEEM as payment. Their website doesn’t work now anyways.

I can at least buy stuff from places like APMEX with BTC (or even BCH), but pretty much nothing with STEEM, except for stuff within the ecosystem.

Marketing, Awareness, the process is not easy enough for a new person who do not know how does steem work.

You nailed it. More use cases. I dont really have ideas but maybe tie with solutions to real world problems, like ending world hunger, solutions to climate change and end the use of single-use plastics. LOL I don't even know if I make sense but I really like what you just posted that I wanted to comment and I rarely comment. LOL More dapps, more games and support to those projects that help widen userbase. Keep up the good work. I just lurk but I'm a fan.

If more people were looking at the stake based content discovery more people would want to buy in to have a louder opinion where they think it matters.

I also think we have a large use-base of people willing to work for low wage so a service like Fiverr for small tasks would have external demand.

We need content that people actually want to read everyday, like general news and weather reports, so that Steem could be your primary source of information. I tried to do a pilot on @newforyou, but I was already broke at that point.

Once we have the eyeballs, we can start onboarding companies and organizations that want to engage with the public and buy attention - in a way that's more user-friendly than ads, and gives them more control than other social media.

Also the small accounts to see, that they can grow.

!BEER
for you

Maybe if we build some kind of an exchange and having some amount of steem gives you benefits such as participation in IPOs (something like bnb, i kinda like their utility).
Steem most definitely lacks that part, it's hard to crack in which direction we should go

I was also thinking something along these lines, but it just seems to be many steps ahead of where steem is. But, yes I definitely agree that would be attractive if we had layered tokens with value and communities to support and interact with tribes in parallel or similar interests.

Posted using Partiko iOS

Maybe after SMTs get out we will be smarter, not sure though... I guess we most definitely should push steem towards something that isn't related with inflation or control over the network.
Honestly i really think a lot about something that could potentially increase utility but i'm not tech kind of guy so it's hard to know the limits...

Likewise, but not being a tech person here I consider as valuable because the world is full of other “did you turn it on and off” people like myself. Steem is interesting but the typical human isn’t going to devote themselves to a platform that can feel like a job that’s not paying them or even really appreciating their efforts.

SMTs could indeed be a potential winner, if steem could branch off into other things such as a decentralized Wordpress via SMT that would be huge.

Tons of potential, the whole concept is experimental and in its infancy.

Posted using Partiko iOS

At least there is a will for change, eventually we will take off. 😁

Maybe enter people into lotteries and send out gifts to people who buy a certain amount of steem like some startups do. Maybe you could create actual physical coins with wallets on them or something like.

How about Steem scavenger hunt/ geocache? People can buy clues to each step and the prize could be physical wallets of Steem.

Sure they are all being done already, lol. So much unseen creativity on here they create so many great things.

I know; how about physical structures that people with a certain amount of steem power can use or delegate? Kind of like YouTube space? This might attract more creatives and entrepreneurs into buying in and powering up? Again, probably been thought of but I imagine some would but more steem for a workspace They could utilize.

it needs to be widely excepted as a form of payment

Perhaps slightly off topic, but they really need to stop the programmed selling of Steem to pay the bills. I don’t think Steem was created for this purpose. It’s a no brainer.

They did that this month actually! You see that? K learned about it on the witness chat on the ramble radio discord server.

I agree.

Posted using Partiko iOS

Yeah, only for this month though. Not good enough. I want to see it stopped permanently, or at least until the price recovers somewhat.

How about some positive vibes for signs of change?

Too many Eeyores on this blockchain really started to piss off the Pooh. ;)

Posted using Partiko iOS

In general I’m pleased with the new direction since HF22, just pointing out the one big thing that irks me.

I am with ya man. Just giving props where it is due in hopes they see an uptick in approval from the community and consider repeating, maybe on an ongoing basis.

Posted using Partiko iOS

As long as bulls are running, those people who love crypro by their heart always put faith in certain coin which will lead their future, Steem is one of them. To be honest this is the time as steem low in market, we must buy. And Invest to get more in future.

Posted using Partiko Android

A shit-ton more users 🤣

Let me say the opposite, that does not increase the steem's price.

Disgusting site steemit.com where you can't even put more than 5 tags.

Long developed SMT. How long are you going to wait for them?

Broken economy. The latest hardfork made Steam even less attractive to the authors.

Complicated registration. Why do some people keep buying accounts? Find another social network where people pay to create an account or wait for many days.

Do a PROPOSAL to hire a few known crypto influencers in order to spread the #newsteem message in every social channel. These influencers should be paid with SBD/STEEM.
It would involve to perform a study on which influencers we will make the offer...we need more visibility...so I think that “professionals” on this field are needed.

Posted using Partiko iOS

It won't work. Every day new users come and go, there's no prior strategy to retain them

That is another good field to work on

Posted using Partiko iOS

The steemit site in particular must have more features like private messages, groups, etc. like FB to make it attractive to social site users plus a working mobile app just like that should be available because most people have a greater access with mobile devices.
In that way many people would be able to get, buy, and earn and hold steem and it will get valuable over time.

Get some influencer marketing done out of the SPS funds....this place could use some fresh blood !!

One of the major flaws I see with a vast majority of blockchains is the barrier to use for the common person. We need something that can tie in with a Google ID or Apple ID via single sign on. There are some projects working on this now I think, but that is really want people want. There also needs to be an easily usable app for it.

I tried to get my brother in law into Splinterlands. Until there is a mobile app he has zero interest in the game. I think a lot o people feel the same way. They don't want to have to sit down at a computer and login to easily post content or play a game or do whatever it is they could be doing on the blockchain.

Referencing my first point, people also want something they can go to their app store for, download, and be using within a matter of seconds. They don't want to have to deal with or write down public keys and private keys just to be able to use an app.

When I download Clash of Clans, I can say yep, I want this tied to my Google account or my Facebook account and I am good to go. I understand there are security risks with a model like that, but really that is what people want, so they need to figure that stuff out.

Playing EOS Knights can be a huge pain sometimes, I launch the app, then I say I want to login with Token Pocket. Then that app opens, then I need to put in my key and then I can finally play EOS Knights. The problem is every time I want to do something in game, I need to sign the transaction. It is just tedious.

Like I said, I understand why it is the way it is, but most people don't and if we want mass adoption we need to mask that stuff behind the scenes so they can just have a quick easy experience.

I would love to see steemit sinc sharing their ad revenue with the content producer s, something like 30 to them 70 to the creator, like YouTube does. Heck, even 50-50 would be nice. That would motivate users to I) produce better quality content (hence better serp results) ii) go share their blog and posts on other places like fb and Twitter and blah, hence even better serp results due to all these inbound back links

Unfortunately, I doubt they are competent enough to do that, supposing their greedy asses would even consider it..

I know this doesn't answer your question, but it would help bring a lot more people here, meaning some of them would probably bother to buy steem, hoping to make money both by the ad revenue and inflation.. or maybe some other adrevenue sharing model, e.g. 40 % ad revenue goes to steemit sinc, 40 to the content creator, 20 % to buy and burn steem. Or something like that..

I believe STEEM's initial purpose was to be an attention token. That utility has never been brought to fruition and I wrote this in a post recently.

Shortly after, I started working on a Native Ads feature for hivemind that will enable communities to sell ad space in tokens (STEEM/SMTs). You can read an overview here. I pitched the idea to the Steemit team on GitHub too.

Attention has tremendous value and not having this utility is what hurt STEEM's economic value.

Games, games, games .....A few games with a large numebr of players and the blockchain will reach its limits .... then only RC will be the value of it!

Steemmonsters is an example of this and probably the one working project around here.

Being able to use Steem in daily life. Increasing Steem's value by moving it's usage outside of blogging would probably be a huge boon for the currency. If I could go on Amazon and pay with Steem the value would instantly sky rocket.

Literally just a competent website. I mean ffs why can't this website resemble, to some degree, a normal blogging platform? The stranger they make it the less it will appeal to the normies we need to bring in to stay competitive.

Where is the ability to save multiple drafts? That has been around since at least the 90s on some blogging platforms, and is nearly universal now. Where is the view count? Where is the ability to schedule publishing? What is up with all of the weird rules about the number of upvotes and voting power?

I understand that last part has a purpose, but all of those things should be changed/limited so that normal people can understand what this site is...Right now literally the only point of being on this site is the anonymity. The whales eat up all the earnings.

More online stores to spend it in?
With all these crapitalusts you'd think we would be over run with places to spend steem.
Where are the amazon drop shippers?
The silver merchants?
I tried to by mosquito repellant from one, but all i got was strange looks.
And she blogs here!
I've bought seeds from papapepper and books from richq11, but who else has?
Instead of dumping to btc, buy something from a steemizen, imo.

...my t-shirt proposal fell flat on it's face too (apart from yourself, jumping on board with it)

Yeah, all these gold diggers makes it hard to make friends, here.
I got a tshirt from tsu.

We don’t want to conflate value with price. For the short- to medium-term, I’m quite happy for STEEM to be available at fire-sale prices so that I can buy more whenever I happen to have some fiat to spare. Long-term I’d love to see the price make all time highs so that my holdings could provide a nice income stream. The value that will drive the price will likely come from apps that have not yet been imagined, much less launched. Splinterlands is a hint of what could come; its ability to bring outside money into the Steem ecosystem has let it grow significantly.

Might some type of financial service be the use case that creates great value on the Steem blockchain? Middleman business are under great pressure everywhere. Could a Steem blockchain app twist the knives that are being stabbed in their backs?

Podcast dapp. I'm sure I'm not the only one who catches the podcast version of my favorite live streams while I drive. I'm missing so much content on dtube/3speak because I don't have much time for video, podcasts are easier.
Maybe creators would have to burn Steem to put their content on the platform. Dunno about that, but I keep reading that uses that burn tokens are good.
