RE: What is the #1 change needed for Steem - Win $20+ upvote

Excellent points as always @themarkymark, what a debate this stirs up, and a healthy one for the most part.

Investment friendly and fan friendly are two things that need to be stressed. If you have that fundamental mindset out of the gate the rest will follow in line and you will literally get professional content creation. I think curation needs to become a massive priority, it's a revolutionary idea, and needs to be perfected so that maximum benefit can be attained by the fans/voters of the content along with the creator of the post. More commenting, less posting, more curation incentive= investment incentive. There are a lot more Homer Simpsons out there than Leonardo Da Vincis, so lets follow inertia rather than spending so much time and energy trying to introduce new laws of physics to nature. This also goes hand in hand to marketing in my opinion. Having baseball in my background I think there is a limitless wealth of people to reach out in the Major Leagues and the Minor Leagues especially, having so many people coming from countries that are dying to move to decentralized currency exchanges, like Venezuela for example. I give you Exhibit A for that endeavor, Chicago Cubs Catcher Willson Contreras. ..

this picture may not be the best example but he literally wears a Venezuelan flag as his undershirt. He is maybe the most fiery catcher I have seen play the game and the most exciting catcher I have seen play since Hall of Famer Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez. Another is Javy Baez, a Puerto Rican native, also a member of my beloved Cubs, and also a starter for the National All-Star team in the coming days. The thing here is if we, being the steemit community compensated, delegated, however we chose to do it to get them involved here on steemit the word would get out fast. MLB is dying to get its star players mentioned on a larger basis, and some kind of partnership with MLB and select players, making Willson Contreras one of countless young superstars from countries/territories right now that are (or have had natural disasters that led to crisis) like Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Panama, Mexico, Nicaragua, South Korea to name a few where Steemit has built an impressive showing already. Can you imagine if a guy like Contreras, who can pass on a few bucks a day to people through his steemit account to help fellow countrymen and women that are struggling?

a.) It's a chance for the big names to give directly back to their fans and feel quite good literally seeing the results through posts and conversations with people on a daily basis. These guys are swamped for time, and this can be their charitable contribution in just about the most time efficient way possible. Everybody wants to be a part of something bigger than themselves and this would be an incredibly efficient way for professional (and up and coming prospects) of the game to be able to connect with their fans daily and give them a little more than comments from a keyboard as we all know talk is cheap and money quite often makes things move toward desired perception.

b.) On the investment friendly side, make curation a priority. Have a double sweet spot for curation and split these pools in half on each post for more chances for upvote entry into posts to receive curation bonuses. Have the curation rewards start at 10% after 24 hours (zero curation and a 10% donation to each curation pool for the post, yep 20% curation drop for self voting inside of 24 hours), and then move progressively toward a 30% rate at the 48 hr mark, then have it descending back to 10% at the very end of the fourth day and start over again, from day 4, to day 5 (again with ) and 6. Have a one minute delay on votes that are submitted inside of one minute, meaning if 10 votes are auto cast at the dead center of the curation sweet spot-either one-the first one is cast, the next one is cast one minute later, and so on. So if you have 300 autovotes cast for the sweet spot, you go one minute apart, 299 of them will get front run by the first person lucky enough to get that vote, then the rest will be spread out into the remaining slots of the curation pool of timed vote, with the overflow (if there is one) being cast in the final minute of the given curation slot, first or second.
