Crypto is the Wild West (it's me, the guy who interviewed themarkymark)

Hive fam,

Pumped to be joining the HIVE community and to share my live show with all of you. I just joined after interviewing @themarkymark and becoming very interested in what ya'll are doing. I host the show every Saturday and I plan to start sharing it with the community here. And maybe in the future start sharing on dtube and threespeak.

Anyway, my show starts in about 90 minutes, always streams at noon US eastern time. Here's what I'm talking about this week:

Crypto is the wild west. And if you haven't been paying attention you best start. There is A LOT going on and it's my belief crypto is still the most overlooked innovation. In this show I'll riff on the epic true-but-feels-like-science-fiction story of how HIVE forked from the STEEM blockchain after a hostile takeover by Justin Sun. I recently interviewed "themarkymark", top contributor on HIVE and formerly on STEEM, about how all this unfolded. I'm also riffing on reddit's cryptocurrency plans, Coinbase Wallet interest rate updates, Goldman Sachs' upcoming Bitcoin webinar, why the FBI's warrantless access to your browsing history is a moot point (they already have everything, only encryption can save us), Chris Dixon's legendary and accessible talk on Crypto Networks and Why they Matter, and if time close with a riff on why life is hard (because good exists).

Awesome to see you posting, @dickclucas! I have the recording of your show open in a new browser & I'm excited to give it a listen some time in the next day or so. Welcome to the awesomeness that is Hive!

@tipu curate

Much appreciated, let me know what you think!

Just finished - excellent job breaking down such a complicated situation! I would add that the hostile takeover was made possible by a confluence of events - yes, the ninja mined stake, but also Justin lying to the exchanges about a hostile takeover (shortly after having what he called a "positive" group phone call with some witnesses) about hackers, so the exchanges allowed Justin to use custodial stake to gain control of the blockchain. When they realized what happened, they (well, two of the exchanges) apologized and tried to remove themselves, but since it takes 13 weeks to power down... sigh

At any rate, great show overall. I hadn't heard much about the Coinbase wallet upgrade - I'm definitely interested in the interest option, so I plan to check that out (not that I have much fiat or crypto there - bit gun shy of exchanges these days...lol). And nice positive note to end on. Happy Hiving!
