My First Weeks Plus Useful Links

View from the bottom. Making my first post and testing out some dividers and emoji
I kind of want to have a record of progress for myself so I can look back later from a different perspective.
Hopefully someone will tag along and gain something from the journey.

I am now beginning my 3rd week here and still feeling like a fish out of water except I don't even get to be a fish yet. The first week felt even lower than plankton maybe sand or something. It sure is no fun to press the little up button and still see 0.00 Besides I had some very nice people kind enough to upvote some comments and I wanted to pay them back. Also all the reading required to learn the ropes lead me to stumble across tons of really great posts that had few if any votes.
So off I trot all enthusiastic about getting some bitcoin so I can buy some steem so I can have some SP so my vote won't be 0.
Well don't think that is as easy as it sounds at least not for a total noob like me. First I had to learn how to acquire the coins. That was an adventure in itself luckily there are a lot of articles with handy dandy little screen shots to make it seem easy, more upvotes worth 0.00 were gladly bestowed upon these helpful authors. "(added to my list of voteyou later peeps)
Since I have no clue what I am doing I settled on a small amount in case I mess up. I am at this point exactly 1 week in and so excited I will finally get some SP
(insert a deflated balloon emoji I don't have that yet)....
It is going to take 7 days for my purchase to clear.
That gave me a week to learn more about Steemit here are some highlights
🌀 rent a bot get some votes
🌀 don't rent a bot it makes you whale bait
🌀 follow people make friends
🌀 very few are looking for new plankton friends
🌀 whales curate, dolphins post, minnows comment
🌀 small fish better post a bit too or risk never becoming dolphin
🌀 bookmark the emoji list https://steemit.com/emojis/@blueorgy/steemit-emojis-master-list
🌀 book mark the page dividers https://steemit.com/steemit/@odrau/free-page-dividers-for-your-steemit-posts
https://steemit.com/steemit/@scrooger/animated-text-dividers-simply-copy-and-paste-gif-dividers
🌀 organize posts you want to save http://www.steemshare.com/users/sign_up
🌀 watch out for contests some are even really easy.
🌀 patience lots of it

To be continued...

Hello! I'm about the same amount of time here as you (maybe a little less). Anyway, your post rang very true -- giving lots of .00 upvotes, trying to decide if bots are a good or bad thing-- and if they are bad, why is everyone doing it!! I did figure out how to "power up" which was exciting, but my upvote is still mostly .00. So anyway, much kudos to us both. :) Minnows trying to learn to swim with the big fish. It ALL must be a test! I hope you can stick with it and I hope I can as well! Cheers, Ellen

Thank you so much for that. I will follow along and watch you grow into ma bigger fish. After all you were my first ever post comment.
I am exploring some groups that help new members grow. I will be posting on that some after further investigation. Hope you visit again and maybe even find something useful.

You are welcome! Yes, we can watch each other grow. :) One thing you might try is doing a post (similar to this one) using the tag "introduceyourself". People were very welcoming to me when I did that, and I felt like I started interacting with the community which they say is where it is all at...someone said to me "come for the money, stay for the people". I'll be on the look out for your posts and good luck with everything. I think if we are persistent, (keep posting good posts and learn to make them better, keep commenting real true from the heart comments, keep trying to build relationships -etc) things will start to happen!

I think you are right. My next post is about patience. I deliberately chose to save the intro tag to use later. These first few will be more about making a record of my first days here.
Later on I will do one more about my own self.
You are right about the interactions I am starting to get to know people here that makes it all much more fun.

Patience is huge - That is a great topic for a post! Makes sense about saving for later. I might do another one just cause I still feel so new. It is crazy how much there is to learn!

Be careful you aren't suppose to use the introduction tag much. Ask around because I have not looked into it much. I think you get one time then later if you intro something new like your DTube or something.
There certainly is a lot to take in. That is probably why it is set up to grow slowly for the newbies.

I will. One big confusion for me is about bots and whether they are even ok to use or smart to use. Right now until I know more I'm steering clear of them!
