It's better to wait a little bit longer than pushing an unfinished product, which will contain bugs.
If you can wait 3 months - you can wait 5 months.
The problem is the market can't wait. Look at the price of Steem? When Steem goes back to 10 cents then will you be saying let's wait a few more months?
SMTs shouldn't be rushed but we do need to do something about the fact that Steem Power and Steem are a horrible store of value in BTC/Steem. There is competition offering a better store of value (EOS).
Steem has enough value to hold it's current position and to go even higher. And I'm not talking about the USD value. The whole altcoin-market went down.
SMTs should put it into TOP10 position.
In 2018 SMTs could put Steem in the TOP10. In 2019 you're out of your mind. There will be a lot of competition in 2019. In my opinion in 2019 it might in fact even be in the middle of a bull market which could mean the competition could have the opportunity to take the spot Steem is in now.
Steem has mostly lost value for it's entire chart life. Technical analysts know Steem isn't a good store of value.
@dana-edwards, I think we both want the same thing: a healthy Steem price.
And instead of assuming what competition might look like in '19, how about we just take Steem's current strengths.
Which put most other cryptocurrencies into shame. However, the market isn't logical like that - otherwise Bitcoin Gold, a cryptocurrency with nearly zero traction, wouldn't have 1.5x the market cap of Steem.
Well, I'm not a TA and thus believe in hands-on value, which Steem has enough of.
Except for the fact that the market is up since the announcement, lol. Not that we make decisions based on what we think the market will do, I hope most people have a better understanding of how markets operate than to expect us to do that. We make our decisions based on what is going to make Steem more valuable for developers. Full stop.

The BTC value of Steem has consistently been drained out except for brief periods of time when it rose. In May to June 2017 Steem was "profitable" in BTC value. In Dec 2017 to Feb 2018 Steem was also "profitable" in BTC value.
We saw a trend reversal also in April but it was very mild. Since April the BTC value has been slowly draining out of Steem. I merely ask is there going to be any concrete actions or plans by developers to bring Steem into a state of "profitability" or to put it differently, a state of sustainability for sake of the reward pool?
There is not one blockchain/project out there who could compete with steem (the blockchain) and steemit.com (the frontend) in regards of social media experience and actually active users.
With HF20, I am glad that account creation will be much cheaper then it currently is. I have two projects in mind which I am going to build in the next two years who will use Hivemind, SMTs and with that communities.
EOS can not compete with Steem as people would pay more then 15 USD for an account creation.

I been waiting over 2 years. I sure hope this pays off! Steem does have one of the largest Communities in Crypto but we need these updates so we can grow. You have to admit Steem is still very complex for average beginner. This is like 90's interface. I understand Steemit is just a proof of concept; that's why these Core updates are so critical to the Steem blockchain so the other layers/UX above can thrive.
I can understand what you mean, but it's not the fault of Steem. Steem is the barebone of this system - if you want a better UX, then condenser (Steemit) has to improve.
