This is probably an unoriginal idea, but you need to be able to get real world stuff with steem. So we need to be able to buy and sell stuff. Blogging is great, and exchange a bit for dollars is good. But once we sidestep all the intermediaries and can buy and sell real stuff and services with steem, then it moons.

A Steem based economy would definitely not hurt; personally I think it would do a LOT for us to have an internal marketplace of sorts since people trading smaller amounts (which would be MOST people!) to BTC and then to fiat mostly takes time and gets eaten by exchange fees.
That would also send a message to external investors that there is "something here" that's worth investing in, so good suggestion!
