"Buy Steem and Power Up the Dream", I said exactly this to my friend Evan who's decided to commit himself to paragliding for at least the next year. He sold his house. He's indeed serious about creating the lifestyle of his dreams. He's no joke, yet he is indeed hilarious.
STEEMIT as a TOOL with Lots of Applications
- Last I spoke with Evan before today, was a bout a month or so ago...when I casually mentioned steemit to him and how he should post his videos here, instead of just giving away his content to facebook. I mean it's cool to share your content with facebook...but I mean there are better options out there. Lots of tools at our disposal is the point here.
Long Lost Friendships - Life is Busy
- In the Last 3 days I've had more one on one conversations with friends I haven't spoke with in ages. Steemit has come up a whole bunch. What's been interesting is that each and every single one of my peers is busy as fuck. Has so much going on in their world, that it's been a challenge enough to 're-connect' and catch up...like that takes planning and perfect timing in and of itself.
Old Girlfriend
- My ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend contacted me the other day too. They have been investigating Bitcoin and Ethereum and they've been looking for some guidance with what's what. My Ex girlfriend said, "there's no way I can really go on continue living the way I have been living....It's just not really long term sustainable." She was referring to her work and costs of city living. She's well educated too - She has a biotechnology degree and a Medical Lab technologist degree. Multiple science degrees. Very Impressive. It takes a lot of work and focused attention to accomplish such a feat. Personally it would be tough for me to accomplish as I have a lot of difficulty with public eduaction...all of it really from kindergarden to university...undergraduate to graduate level. For the record, i do have a law degree. Point I am highlighting here: My EX is barely scraping by financially and she's followed all the rules...trusted in what she's been told from her parents and other elders who parrot the same narrative as her parents ... that being, 'you just got to suck it up and get a lot of school education...and then get a job...and suck it up some more...so hopefully that can lead to another better job...and maybe you go and do more schooling....and maybe you get a better job while you are doing that'. Ironically, the message being: 'You just got to suck it up'. And, 'Look at your parents...see...we did it...we are ok'....'you can do it too.'
Irony's Here
- The irony of course of the above popular narratives to follow are 'mostly ridiculous'. Yes there is some validity and good principles in there, like: integrity, self-discipline, diligence, work and study hard. The elephant in the room is the notion and belief: "everything will be fine and work out because if you work hard everything will be rewarded to you". Unfortunately this is not the present day reality of our shared collective world. Access to the best opportunities is still rather limited at this point. If you are reading my steemit post right now...Chances are you have an above average eduaction..whether it be through traditional means...or through means of self-government....self-teaching is somewhat irrelevant to the point here.
Living the Dream
- The issue here: The Living Dream is available for those who are 'smart enough to figure it out'. And it's justified as this way..sort of. If we look historically at those in positioned privileges of wealth...there's always been a sort of air/heir of self-righteousness. Like this belief in the 'you just got to suck it up' and 'pay your dues/taxes'...ironically while the most prosperous individuals pay little to no dues/taxes and are able to compound their wealth exponentially. These advantages are the perks of being in the 'know'. While 'average joe' is told and sold the belief...and dream of 'just think positive' and every penny counts...so just keep putting them into you 'special bank saving's account'....don't even think about it...it will grow over time. What a fairy tale Joke!

You bring up valid points and I agree with you on all fronts. The antiquated rules of get good grades, get a good job and work really hard for someone else is broken and has been for some time. Working 40 hours a week for 40-50 years and then hoping you're able to retire, that is insanity to me. A job is simply trading your time for money. The wealthy know this and simply leverage the average person's time (their employees) to accomplish their goals and dreams, while they spend their time enjoying their life. Steemit is the first social media platform where financial and personal development education is prominent and openly discussed and promoted. Steemit is and will change peopels lives more and more every day, I feel very fortunate to have found it and feel obligated to pay it forward to let others know. Great post as always!

To trade the majority of one's prime adult years for the 'retirement dream' at the end of the 30-40 year grind...makes absolutely no sense...and is the arguably worst trade ever! I totally agree with you.

I could not agree more with you on this one. Steemit is going to provide many of us the opportunities to live out their dreams in trade for being stuck in places they do not fully desire to be. Now I do feel that if you did not have a drive to succeed before, Steem is not going to give you that, but what it can give you is value for things that you may have been doing before that you could not gain value from. This new type of valuation will truly give many people creative expression over their lives. I am excited to see where it takes you and many of us in the future!

Nice post! I would say 'create the dream' as well because the dream we were sold is a lie. We have to create something entirely new, and for some this will be a more difficult process than others, even if they are the same amount of smart!
But I definitely agree that the process we walk in getting there and how we build ourselves along the way counts a lot, because even if the end goal doesn't work out as we had intended, we still 'create the dream' by creating ourselves towards our utmost potential!
