SMT2020

With SMT on the way, I would like Ned to reappear with one final piece of news...

Hi all, today I have on-boarded a multinational technology company called Amazon and given them the @amazon account I've been holding since March 2016.

Furthermore, Amazon are going to invest somewhere in the region of $10,000,000 in order to reward their product reviewers with the Amazon SMT.

Time for the guitar solo... ( source)

This might well be the holy grail of SMT adoption but is highly unlikely to happen, and so it could well be up to the Steem community to help market Smart Media Tokens when they arrive, soon...

What seems like an eternity ago, I published a rather crude post as an example of sorts.

As well as the images and formatting not being up to much, the post wasn't geared towards SEO. There were also other points raised in the comments such as:

  • Far too much jargon, e.g. 'Monetization', 'Rewards algorithm'
  • No proof behind 'low customer loyalty' claim
  • No research behind blogs/reviews driving traffic to the site

And other comments such as:

In preparing marketing literature to this kind of client, I would avoid suggesting that they are paying subscribers unless you're quite sure that the token is convertible to fiat money.

One think I noticed is that this program is funded with STEEM ... hence making the core token in higher demand. I can only imagine what a larger outfit like a mainstream publisher would require in terms of STEEM.

Great idea and we'll put together proposal. Are you in an industry where you are used to drafting proposals?

Well actually, no I am not. Nor am I a digital designer, particularly good at writing English, a market research specialist, or an employee of or in connection with a business who I feel could greatly benefit from SMT.

I suspect though, that dotted around the Steem community we have all of the above.

And so what I would like to see as part of the #steem2020 movement, is some collaboration on producing high quality 'pitches' to businesses with an online presence.

These could be for example, online magazines (with article discussion sections), games (using some sort of in game currency), retail outfits (with customer reviews) to name just a few.

Cold calling is not impossible but never easy, and so someone with links to a person/company they see benefiting from SMT would be a good start, and the community could help do the rest. Image design (might help to have mock-ups of SMT), SEO knowledge, analysts, influencers (gulp), marketers, writers/copywriters who can bridge the technical - business gap, etc, etc.

Perhaps this is something the DAO could help fund, maybe threespeak, oracle-d / the Steem business alliance could help manage.

Post / document templates, standard images, a location to go speak to people with skills and time to help.

I'm still confident that SMT bring with them the greatest potential for Steem, and if just one known brand/website gives them a shot then the snowball will begin to roll - there must be some people here to give it a push?

Cheers

Asher

At this point, I am pretty sure it will be up to the community to push SMTs out to market, so hopefully there will be some coordinated activities to pool resources and target key verticals.

Yeah I think so. I almost googled 'key verticals' when you mentioned the phrase the other day, now I'm going to have to :P

Vertical markets, or "verticals," are business niches where vendors serve a specific audience and their set of needs.

Any good?

That'll do pig, that'll do.

I reckon there could be teams with industry experience that can have both the knowledge and the contacts to get feet in doors.

🐷

I hope so!

it's hard to sell something without a success story!!!!

Which came first?

Amazons involvement with blockchain is usually just providing services and servers.

What we need to bait them with is gaming.

I would not be shocked if some of the games being run on the blockchain are using them anyways.

Gaming has been touted as a great use for SMT, I was hoping the customers who reviewed products they purchased could also be rewarded by amazon/future buyers.
