THE WORD OF GOD- The act of being content and knowing your worth with God

1 Timothy 6:6 (Amplified Bible )
6 But godliness actually is a source of great gain when ACCOMPANIED by contentment [that contentment which comes from a sense of inner confidence based on the sufficiency of God].

The truth is, God wants you rich and God needs you to be rich. He proved He wanted you to be rich when He sent Jesus to pay the price for you to be wealthy! 2 Corinthians 8:9 says, “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, YET FOR YOUR SAKES He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.” It’s for YOUR SAKE that Jesus was made poor so that you will become RICH!

It was a great price! A great sacrifice! God wants you to do well and prosper in everything that concerns you! If for my sake, He (Jesus) became poor, I will for His sake BEcome rich! The truth is, “… He (Jesus) died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again” (2 Corinthians 5:15 15). If my prosperity and well-being was included in that sacrificial death of Jesus for me, then I should live my life in a way that represents everything that sacrifice was made for of which wealth is included.

There is nothing wrong with a believer having money and wealth. There were wealthy people in the early church that Timothy pastored. Paul charged Timothy in 1 Timothy 6:17, “Tell THOSE RICH IN THIS WORLD'S WEALTH to quit being so full of themselves and so OBSESSED with money, which is here today and gone tomorrow. Tell them to go after God, who PILES on all the riches we could ever manage— (MSG). it says, “Tell THOSE rich in this WORLD’S WEALTH…” There were rich people in the church and the rich weren’t admonished to throw away their wealth, they were only charged to put their confidence in God – which is contentment.

So, there is nothing wrong with being rich but there is something wrong with a believer being obsessed with money. It is wrong for a believer to do anything for money because the key to prosperity is contentment. Contentment is confidence in God as your source!

Contentment is what our text defines as the sense of inner confidence based on the sufficiency of God. You MUST see God as your source! You must see God as MORE THAN ENOUGH and refuse to be attached to any material thing. There shouldn’t be any material thing in this life that a believer should be attached to. A type of car or house shouldn’t define ‘who’ you are! Be content in who God has made you. Refuse to be attached to things and things will follow you! When GOD is your SOURCE, GOLD will be your SERVANT. When you go after God, He PILES on you all the riches you could ever manage!

1 Timothy 6:6 says that there is GREAT GAIN in being a godly person when it is matched with CONTENTMENT – that confidence or faith in knowing that God is your source and that He is more than enough! There are many godly people who are not content. They are so attached to their material things that they are living in fear! They can’t even trust God with material things! Break free from things and let your confidence be in God. Be happy that you have God and because you have Him, you have everything!

Trust God today for the best and watch Him pile riches upon you!
