what is evangelism
- let consider these three greek words
- the greek word evaggelion is translated "gospel"-1 cor.15:1
- the greek word evangelizo is translated"preach"-
- the greek word evangelistes translated "evangelist"-Act 21:8
- looking at the closed association
- Gospel (evanggelion) means good news
- preach(evangelizo) means to bring good news
- evangelist(evangelistes) mean onebwho brings good news
thus, in the new testament ,evangelizm refers to bringing the good new of jesus christ,1 cor.15:1-4, in other words,evangelism in sharing the gospel (good news) about christ to the people
now let us examine the the following to appreciate of concept of evangelism in the church and life of christian.
- evangelism is sharing the gospel as comanded in the greatcommissionby christ,this commission was first given by the apostles,Mk.16:15-16,but then he wants the gospel procliam to every person in the world by us- Matt.24:14
- evangelism is sharing of good news
- by (ordained) preachers who were also known as evangelists
- just as the apostle did on the day of penticost,Acts2:36-38
- also like evangelist philip did both to groups and individuals Act 8:5,12,35
- evangelism is thesharing the gospleby all christian and not just (ordained evangelist)
- As mentioned,following the persecution at jerusalem,Act 8:4,5
- as we (christian)duty is to proclaimworks,1 peter 2:9-10,3:5
- evangelsm is sharing the gospelby churches sending forth preachers to hear
- as the church at antioch of syria send barnabas and saul,Act. 13:1-3
- evangelism is sharing or good news by churches helping those who are preaching
- paul received help severely from churches like philipi,1:3,4:14-16
- they helped paul preach elsewhere without charge -2 cor.11:8

THE PURPOSE OF EVANGELISM
The princpal thrust of evangelism is to proclaim gospel to people with the sole of winnin their souls leading the sinner to repentance and turn wholly to God trough christ- john 1:40-42,45-47, Act 8:36-37. Therefore the preachet engage in personal withness to bring sinner into a personal,tasting and experimental knowledge of christ as there lord and saviour not to accept a particular creed,join ur church to form group or become moralists.
WHEN EVANGELISM CEASES
- A christian withers and cut off for not bearing fruit,john.15:1-8
- The church can get removed from their relationship with Godand die Revelation.2:1-5, 3:1-2
