NOMENCLATURE AND CHARACTERISTICS OF THE WORD(pt 2)

in #steemchurch6 years ago

The gospel of the love for God's Word continues.
We shall attempt to complete the remaining part of the nomenclature and characteristics of the Word.
You should bear in mind that your robust understanding of this nomenclature of the Word, will guarantee your ..rightly dividing the word of truth..2 Timothy 2:15b KJV

3. The Statutes

This is from the Hebrew word choq, meaning to mark, cut, hew, engrave or inscribe. It also means to decree or ordain. The point being made is that Statutes are the decrees or ordinances that marks, engraves, inscribes and prescribes what life and conduct we are to pursue.

And to this, the Psalmist opined:
Psalm 19:8 KJV
The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.. This is the dimension or aspect of the Word that is truth amongst the fallacies of men.

It follows that it is right and bound to outstand and prevail over every decree and ordinance of men. Hmmm! Little wonder it is ......rejoicing heart.

And to this, the Psalmist began to say
Psalm 119:23 KJV
Princes also did sit and speak against me: but thy servant did meditate in thy statutes.
See, princes are duty and legally bound to utter decrees and ordinances, which regulate the conducts of the people they govern
Now, the Psalmist was quick to say, though; the decrees and ordinances of princes against him, he was rather fused or engrossed with the decrees and ordinances of the King of kings

He chose to live his life based on the decree of heaven towards him rather than the decree of men.
Honey, this is quite instructional. How focused and engrossed are you on the divine decrees and ordinances over your life? Or do you merely live your life base on the decrees and ordinances of men?

Oh! How I long for men who are dogged enough to live their lives and conduct, based on the prescription, inscription, engravings and marks, decreed or ordained by the King of kings and Lord of lords towards them, rather than the king of men.

This was the position of the three Hebrew children, who chose to live by divine decree at the expense of the king's decree:

Daniel 3:16-18 KJV
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. [17] If it be so , our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. [18] But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

The Apostles of Jesus were not left out when they said to the council:

Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.
For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.
Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.Acts 4:19b, 20,5:29b

Hmmm! This is worth emulating.

Let my heart be sound in thy statutes; that I be not ashamed. [Psalm 119:80]. Sound to the point that you are unmovable
be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.[1 Corinthians 15:58]And this could only be made possible when: Thy statutes have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage.[Psalm 119:54]

What you sing you don't forget, now you have to start singing His statutes on the pathway to your divine destiny. Glory!
It is used 22 times by the Psalmists

4. The Commandment

This is from the Hebrew word mitsyah, meaning a command or an instruction, whether human or divine. And to this, the Psalmist opined: ...

The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.[Psalm 19:8]

Honey, this is the aspect of God's word that comes as a command and instruction to us, either directly from God or through His servant; so pure as to engender the enlightening of our eyes.
And to this, Apostle Paul began to say: 1 Corinthians 7:6,12 KJV
But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment. [12] But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away.
These are examples of words depicting the Commandments or instructions that either originates from God or me

Sweetie, there are so many commandments or from, the Word to us, such as the Ten Commandments. which was later summarized by Christ into two (Matt 22:36-40. 13:34; 14:21; 15:12).

There are also others instructed by the apostles of God, as being inspired by the Holy Spirit.
Now:
For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.. [1 John 5:3]

Proverbs 6:23 KJV
For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:
I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments.[Psalm 119:60]

Now, I implore you to do this: Psalm 119:32 KJV
I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart.. Glory!
It is found 22 times psalm 119

5. The Fear of the Lord

This is the aspect of the Word that speaks of reverence to God It is the reverential fear, awe and admiration of the Lord. This is the dimension of the Word, that unveils or reveals the splendor, majestic, power, mightiness, greatness and glory of God; to end that we may know how to approach and intimate ourselves with Him as our Father, in reverence, honour and worship.

Hmmm! And to this, the Psalmist opined:
Psalm 19:9 KJV
The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.. It is being said cleanliness is next to godliness.
See, this reverential fear, brings us to the standpoint of cleanliness and holiness; whereby we continually behold His beauty in worship, honour and reverence. Glory!
Sweetie, it is no gainsaying that: Proverbs 9:10 KJV
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

Thus, Knowledge which capitalizes on What, Wisdom, which capitalizes on How:u understanding which capitalizes on When,' are all enshrined in the Fear of the Lord', being an aspect or dimension of the Word.

Hmmm! Prophet Isaiah also gravitated along this line when he
Isaiah 8:13-14 KJV
Sanctify the Lord of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread. [14] And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
It follows that if you set Him apart to reverence Him, then; ...He shall be for a sanctuary... to you.

And as a matter of fact, Solomon could not but conclude: Proverbs 19:23 KJV
The fear of the Lord tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.
Psalm 119:38 KJV
Stablish thy word unto thy servant, who is devoted to thy fear

I like the fact that you highlighted this story in your post. These three Hebrew men kept their stand. They were not bothered about the consequences of their actions. How many like this can we find today?

And as a matter of fact, Solomon could not but conclude: Proverbs 19:23 KJV
The fear of the Lord tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.
Psalm 119:38 KJV

The fear of the Lord isthe beginning of wisdom and the Lord is pleased by those who sincerely fear and reverence Him.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding

Only the foolish do not fear God, because he is an all powerful God and can do and undo anyone!!

thank you apostol for giving us your time and showing us the characteristics of the word of God

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
The wisdom of God is all we need in all situations of life. The word of God is yea and Amen.

Thanks for sharing this with us, I love this part "Sanctify the Lord of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread. [14] And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

Great post sir.

For you to truelly do things that will please God's heart you need to do things according to what he desires in his word.

Knowledge which capitalizes on What, Wisdom, which capitalizes on How:u understanding which capitalizes on When,' are all enshrined in the Fear of the Lord', being an aspect or dimension of the Word.

The word is spirit and life, much knowledge comes from reading the scriptures and also the fear of the lord

I really like this

The gospel of the love for God's Word continues.

obedience to God, it is the best thing is the duty of every being before everything first Him.

Very good post, this is very useful for everyone, in this life we must always remember to god. And do all the commandments of God, and keep all the restrictions. In that way, God will give a life of happiness in the world and hereafter. thank you,...

compliance to God, it is the best thing is the obligation of each being before everything first Him.

As Solomon said the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. There might be books written by man that helps to add knowledge to a man but let me tell you if you take your time to read the Bible and pray for the Holy Spirit guidance, you will realised that it contains all the wisdom and knowledge a man seeks. Let me add this looking around us we can see that there are a lot of professors who are now pastors and the rest, one day way back in school I visited one professor for the understanding and he told me all the wisdom a man wants in life is in the Bible.
