I just pushed a heap of new updates to #steemlink , the minimalist steem blog viewer that you can clone for yourself in moments.
It's awesome to see people forking and tweaking the project, with 9 active forks already!
We even have a version by @vadbars customized for golos.io at vadbars.tk :
Todays updates [1am 16/4] :

- Simplified post headers, added avatars
- Post footer has been reformatted, consolidated
- Tags are now linked to their own pages
- Comments now have avatars

- Better routing function that now intercepts pageload requests and replaces content without a refresh
- Routing function now handles browser "back" button requests without refresh
domain/sort/tagurls work now (eg: steemlink.com/trending/pizzagate)- Tag views now have a simple header that will get nicer soon

- Squashed more bugs, but there are still more related to header display on the new tag views
- Created new functions for creating post previews on tag indexes (since you don't get full post content from api), but haven't implemented them yet.
I'll keep plugging away at this until its polished , but I think my next update post will actually be for #steemviz - I want to update it with some of the new code I've made for #steemlink .
Too many ideas, never enough time.
Enjoy your Easter weekend !

This project has me excited, especially when you mentioned the possibility of a more widget based application moving forward. I've got my eye open for solutions I can integrate with sites I make in Adobe Muse. To date I've only found the SteemConnect upvote button which I've integrated into the mirrored content on my site a while back.
This is the most promising new work I've seen in that direction. Thank you!
The widget version is definately on the way, I just want to refine things on the "big" version a little more before I start on that version. The routing changes made today will make that a lot easier :)
Another option people may not realise exists is to import the RSS feeds put out by streemian, and pop the steemconnect widget on there - I haven't tested this yet but I don't see why that wouldn't work :)
