Yesterday @aggroed and @yabapmatt (the Steem Monsters team) introduced "Steem Engine" (based on the steemsmartcontracts software of @harpagon) which allows everybody to create ones own token.
"Steem Engine" now offering an alternative to SMTs.
That also means there is alternative token creation mechanism available now in addition to the SMTs planned (and postponed) by Steemit, Inc. @aggroed also wrote that already "soon" there will be an internal market where the new created tokens can be traded against STEEM.

Out of curiosity I took the opportunity to create my own new token, too. Referring to the STEEM user name of my wife (@kobold-djawa) and because it sounds nice, I chose the name Kobold (KBD). :)
You can find it in the token list below (screenshot from the Steem Engine website):
(By the way a little improvement would be to fix the the token table header when scrolling through the tokens, especially as their number will increase rapidly.)
I created my new token more or less just as a test and for fun (nevertheless I may send you some if you wish - but hurry up there are only one million Kobold 'coins' remaining). :-) However, for businesses, waiting for SMTs since a very long time, the new options created by Steem Engine could be a huge opportunity!
What to do to create your own new token?
To create your own token you simply have to go to the Steem Engine page, press "GET STARTED" and log in (optional with KEYCHAIN). Then click on "CREATE", after which you have to choose the token name, its symbol and some other details. Done!
Creating a token costs 100 Steem Engine Token (1 ENG = 1 STEEM).
So, what will be the name of your new token? :)

As the final overall amount of KBD is limited to 106 only, I decided that from today on I will reduce the number of KBD per commenting user to 10 (whereby, of course, I reserve the right to send a different amount at my own discretion).

Das ist wirklich eine spannende Sache mit diesen SteemEngine tokens. Toll das man es schon nutzen kann. Gerne würde ich ein paar von den Kobolden haben wenn es dir nichts ausmacht.

Danke, die Kobolde sind gut angekommen. Schade dass man die Transaktion nicht in der offiziellen Steem Wallet sieht. Aber mit der Keychain Wallet kann ich unter "Token" deine Kobolde sehen und auch versenden wenn ich moechte. Was mache ich jetzt mit denen? Vielleicht benutzt du Sie ja als Attention Token... falls ich mal deine Attention brauche haha :-)

Coole Idee, vielleicht hat jemand Glück, wie der Macher von Doge. Das war ja eigentlich auch nur ein Fun-Coin, aber der Macher dürfte saniert sein :-).

Mit einem guten Namen ist guter Anfang fast geschafft. Mit einem sperrigen Namen geht es vermutlich gleichsam sperrig los.
Insofern finde ich Kobald recht gelungen. Pumuckl fänd ich noch besser, aber dem fehlt vermutlich die erforderliche Internationalität (?).
Eigene Kreationen von Namen tät ich vorerst für mich behalten.

As you may know, I am a very slow person ... for now I am just celebrating the birth of a new token star with a fantastic name. In future I may think about any real use cases ... rewarding the winners of my chess riddles, authors of especially good posts? Anything completely different? Let's wait and see ... :)

Da die Nachfrage überraschend groß ist (und immer noch anhält), habe ich seit heute die per Kommentator versendete Menge auf 10 KBD reduziert, welche du gerade eben erhalten hast. :)

Ich sehe gerade, dass ich bereits Token habe.
Ich wusste nicht, dass es genau das gleiche ist, aber ich habe aktuell 2090 FSM-Token.
Diese haben übrigens bereits reale Anwendungsfälle.
Zum einen veranstalten sie Turniere, die kostenlos sind und bei denen es 17 STEEM zu gewinnen gibt (10-5-2) bei denen man aber durch vorherige Zahlung eines freiwilligen Startgeldes von 500 FSM die Preise vervierfachen kann, d.h. wer diese 500 FSM vorher bezahlt hat bekommt für den Sieg statt 10 STEEM 40 STEEM.
Außerdem kann man 8 verschiedene Monster mit FSM kaufen.
Das fängt mit Highland Archer und Rusty Android für je 300 FSM an und geht bis zu Lord Arianthus für 20.000 FSM.
Also durchaus interessant.
Übrigens kann man auch gegen andere Gegner Steemmonsters spielen und dabei Token gewinnen oder verlieren.
Als kostenloses Mitglied muss man mindestens 110 FSM einsetzen, wovon der Betreiber 10 FSM als Servicegebühr nimmt. Die anderen 100 FSM werden gesetzt und der Sieger des Kampfes erhält 200 FSM gutgeschrieben. Jeder kann sein persönliches Limit frei eingeben und dann kann entsprechend auch um größere FSM-Summen gespielt werden. Man kann auch Premiummitglied für 4,97$ im Monat werden, dann fällt die Servicegebühr weg und es gibt auch sonst mehr zu gewinnen. Um ehrlich zu sein hatte ich die KBD zunächst aus purer Neugierde kreiert, einfach um zu sehen, wie das funktioniert, aber ohne schon eine Geschäftsidee im Hinterkopf zu haben.
Es kann aber durchaus sein, dass ich mir in einer ruhigen Minute einmal ernsthaft Gedanken darüber machen werde, wofür sie möglicherweise noch gut sein könnten, außer nur einen schönen Namen zu tragen (diesbezüglich würde ich dann sicherlich auch einen entsprechenden Artikel veröffentlichen). :)
