Cruise RP-1 is a forerunner of Google's driverless cars. The difference between the two is that cruise rp-1 is an attachment while google driverless is a whole automobile.
They both work in the same manner
With the presence of multiple sensors and cameras which scans immediate areas for routes and possible collisions.
The system is currently only available for newer Audi A4 or S4 models.

The Cruise RP-1 is a “highway auto pilot”. It is originally a driving aid. The ability to take over complex driving is still a work in progress.
It is a one button system which takes control of the vehicle on activation and deactivates when the brake pedal is touched.

The cool feature about this device is

*It Gains Full Awareness Of The Road

Thanks to a combination of built-in cameras, radar and its own measurement system, the Sensor Pod gathers highway info like the distance between your car and the vehicle before or behind you, it uses these data to make real time driving decisions.

I need this seriously. Having to travel long distance get tiring especially when I have to be holding the wheels all through the journey. This will ease this problem and will enable me to set the cruise mode and relax my arms.
