This AI application was developed by researchers from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece. It became the third place winner of the Microsoft Cloud AI Research Challenge which was a challenge to "show how Microsoft AI services are used to solve a difficult problem and provide insightful solutions."
It is an AI application that identifies strong earthquakes and notifies seismologists through a phone call.
The message in the Azure Queue triggers an Azure Function which calls Microsoft Cognitive Services Speech API and creates an audio file which contains the details of the specific earthquake event

This is very useful for countries that experience earthquakes often and it can save many lives.

The capital city of my country has witnessed two separate earth tremors in the past two months and fear is already gripping some people that earthquake might be at the corner. This would be a good app to recommend to them.

Very innovative and interesting App. I hope it will help to safe as many lives as possible from earthquakes. Till now there is no real time emergency App out there where you can check for earthquakes and this one looks very promising. Thanks for sharing good Hunt!

The major problem for the moment when it comes to seismology is that we don't have the technology to predict earthquakes before it happens... still an application that detects when it is happening is very handy as in case of a major earthquake, the authorities can do the necessary actions to save as many lives as possible... every single second counts in those moments. Great Hunt!
I totally agree. Notifications as eartquake happens are still very helpful than nothing at all. With the continous evolvement of technology, may our researchers find a way to predict earthquake before it happens.

From the title and description alone, I know that this is already a great hunt. I'm happy to see the application of AI tech on tgis type of scenario. I haven't developed any AI related program yet, but seeing this hunt already gabe me am idea of what's possible. Thanks for the hunt.

It will surely revolutionizing when the app capable of predicting an earthquake. But, true to be said, predicting an earthquake is surely not possible now. However, the earthquake notification app will surely help government agencies to be immediately notified once a big one has hit. This app could be helpful to have an early response on the disaster and risk reduction management team of the area. Great find, @macoolette!
I totally agree with you. While earthquake prediction is not yet a possibility, app notifications like this one will be of great help for disaster response and minimize, if not totally prevent, further damage.

Great hunt @macoolette This is a great app to detect earthquake. I ever experienced earthquake and its a scary one. I only know its an earthquake when i look into my social media apps. This app will give warning if earthquake happen and can save many lives.

Good hunting. Will probably save a lot of lives in earthquake zones, I curious how it detects the earthquake though, the video is not loading for me (slow connection) so I will check it out later.
I too was curious about it until I found out that it won a Microsoft contest. That alone made me convinced because I am sure Microsoft would not have considered it without proof of concept. 😊

We all know how dangerous earthquakes can be and it would be nice to have an aplication alerting about the danger beforehand. And I see this application Earthquake notifications powered by AI doing solving the need to alert the people well in advance so that precautions can be taken. Thanks for sharing a great application.

Superb hunt @macoolette! Very useful especially the earthquake is not yet predictable, this one solves it.
It will not predict earthquake before it happens but will detect when it is happening so at least, there is still the alert time for people to do necessary actions.

Detecting earthquakes before it happens is still not a reality but hopefully soon with the continuous advancement of technology.

Perfect application for all. In this era where almost everyone got a mobile device it is very important to have this app, especially to those who live in areas with strong and/or frequent seismic activities. With this we can save more lives by notifying the residents at an earlier time or date. Great hunt, I like this types of products very much. :D

Natural disaster are the part of the human life, but I am really happy that technology ha arrived at that stage where it can let you know something bad happening around you via Earthquake notifications, I think this is a massive idea in this regard.
