[Announcement] Resteem Airdrop will be Stopped

in #steemhunt6 years ago (edited)

Hello hunters!

Today, we decided to stop the airdrops for resteemers on Steemhunt. This will be effective from June 18th, 2018 KST (Monday).

Why We’re Stopping the Resteem Airdrops

As we announced, the HUNT token bounty airdrop was designed to promote Steemians to participate in the Steemhunt project. There are four main categories in this section - sponsors, voting/resteem, referrals, and posting/commenting/moderation. We are currently running the airdrop for sponsors and voting/resteem. (check out our airdrop manual - https://github.com/Steemhunt/web/wiki/HUNT-Token-Airdrop-Manual).

The resteem airdrop is designed to spread our good hunting posts on Steemit so that other Steemians can join as a hunter. We set the following rule for this - This is based on "person," not "post," which means you will be counted as "1 person" even if you have resteemed multiple posts today. However, we’ve received several complaints from other Steemians about people resteeming too many times each day. This annoys those who are not interested in these posts.

We apologise if some of our resteemed posts disrupted your individual Steemit feed. We think this is a crucial issue, so we decided to stop the Resteem airdrop.

However, the Voting Airdrop will be Continued, and from now on Delisted Posts WILL BE COUNTED.

As we planned, the 40,000 tokens per day for the upvoters are still valid. For your reminder, HUNT tokens are distributed everyday for the upvoters based on the share of the person’s upvoting value of the total hunter rewards of the day.

We’ve received several complaints from the upvoters of the hunt posts that were delisted after their upvotes because they were not counted. So we decided to change this policy. From now on all the upvotes, regardless of whether they are verified or delisted posts, will be counted in the airdrop distributions.

Bounty for Contributors is Newly Added

Since we will stop the resteem airdrop which is 20,000 tokens per day (140,000 tokens per week), we came up with a new bounty airdrop idea.

We will use this fund to distribute the following contributors who:

  1. Report abusers who are blacklisted
  2. Create content to promote Steemhunt projects (article, video, etc.)
  3. Contribute to our development or content moderation

We will select the contributors every week based on the amount of contributions they make for this project, and distribute the 140,000 weekly HUNT tokens (those who report the abusers will get 1,000 tokens per account).

THE RESTEEM AIRDROP WILL BE STOPPED BY JUN 18, 2018 KST.

This sound like a great change that will most likely lead to more real promotion of Steemhunt. I would have guessed that most resteems were from accounts with very little followers anyway, so the promotion might not have been worth much.

wow ..... a good update I am very happy with the new adventurers @steemhunt

Makes sense to me too. I was also trying to think for a better strategy into the voting ones alone. But I confess that without significative AI/scripting behind the scenes, it will be hard to improve the fairness of voting and getting rewards from the airdrop.

In the best interest of all the investors and steemhunt believers, the idea is to promote and bring as good as possible, new hunters that provide great content to the platform.

I love the idea and to be fair, I was thinking my interest in it (initially) would decrease, but I am finding it more and more addicting (just as a viewer). As a hunter, I am doing my best to help it, although I forsee that is not one of my best qualities. I much prefer to curate the good stuff.

And it's that area that I am trying to think on a better way to curate it, filtering "junk" stuff or making the best use of what users wanna see, to actually make that information available to hunters, so they seek the most desired content by the community.

If you can figure out how to balance creative integrity with users who are motivated only by financial interest, please let us know ;-))

I believe steemhunt is always thinking about how to implement tweaks to the ranking algorithm, tweaks that balance the ideal state with the real world.

Technical speaking it is not as easy as punching a couple of idiots that don't understand the purpose of goodwill and integrity. But I get your point. And I would say, we shall all keep trying... That's what I am doing at least. And to start with, people should avoid voting for things, JUST BECAUSE THEY CAN! =S

I know the system allows it... but if you wanna play roge, then why not to hack @dan account? Will be much more profitable.

My point is, to eradicate bad, fighting with good, will not just be enough. But it will help who has the power to drive the rules. AKA, here, @steemhunt. By helping understanding how things flow and making up our minds, we can quickly identify what works or does not.

For me, incentivising profit will never get crawlers away (and I am no saint, but that's not my point). But we are humans, and therefore we can trip on mistakes, but if the community understands that recognizing errors will be much bigger, it will all bring things to the right place.

Although what I have just said does not solve the issue... I will keep thinking about it. Unfortunately... especially today, I have seen a REALLY big amount of hunts.. that where...Blahhh... Need to think... more.

Cheers,
And, thanks for reading comments...

It is a good news to stop resteem rewards.

Will do more content for steemhunt promotion in future.

Congratulations! Your post has been selected as a daily Steemit truffle! It is listed on rank 17 of all contributions awarded today. You can find the TOP DAILY TRUFFLE PICKS HERE.

I upvoted your contribution because to my mind your post is at least 23 SBD worth and should receive 123 votes. It's now up to the lovely Steemit community to make this come true.

I thought resteems made good business sense, and would get SteemHunt in front of a lot more peeps. Although excessive resteeming could be bad.

But I think everyone is waiting for the actual SteemHunts to be rewarded with SH tokens. Now that makes a lot more sense. Bring it on.
