Hello steemits, Doing research on Okinawa’s high life expectancy has been extremely motivating for me; it’s great to know that people living in today's age have figured out the secret to a long, healthy and happy life.

Okinwa'a is a small island of Okinawa in Japan. According to recent reports, there are over 450 centenarians in Okinawa alone. It is being called the healthiest place on Earth.

For the avarage Okinawan, life expectancy is around 86 for a woman and 78 for men. Today the world average life expectancy is 68.5 years for most men and 73.5 years for women.

The Okinwa's longevity is because of there diet and lifestyle, which enables them to live long happy and healthy lives.

A good example would be, Seikichi Uehara, at 97-years-old he is currently still practicing martial artist and defeated an ex-boxing champion who was in his 30s. source

The average Okinawan diet consists of red meat, but largely on rice, fish and vegetables.

The most popular dishes , Mimiga, is made from pig ears. Interestingly enough is low in fat and very high in calcium. Also plenty of tofu, and bitter gourd (Goiya), sweet potato is also a known staple. The Okinawan sweet potato is known to be especially nutritious. One medium sized potato is said to contain over 20,000 IU of beta carotene and Vitamin A.

There's an old Okinawan saying that fits the bill perfectly: "At 70 you are still a child, at 80 a young man or woman. And if at 90 someone from Heaven invites you over, tell him: 'Just go away, and come back when I am 100.'"

Once I have made it and become a steemillionaire I think I would like to possibly live in Okinawa, nothing like good food, some fresh air and the wisdom of the elderly to inspire great content! I am looking forward to your comments :-)

Nice reading . Thanks .

Thanks now researching macro-biotic foods, appreciate the info!

Really interesting. Might have found the fountain of life in an unusual place.

Very interesting information thanks for sharing! I think Okinawa should be the steemit headquarters base of operation!

Let's start a steem Okinawan pool fund and buy the island :-) Healthy steeming for all!

Very interesting. I lived there for several years back in the 60s and they have many things to offer modern culture. Everything back then in the way of food was natural and very few preservatives. Another thing I particularly admired was their respect for their elders and the knowledge they had.

Thanks for sharing, I am honestly going to start saving steem so I can visit, this has become by no1 place to visit on my list of travels :-)
