SteemApp Review: Community Funded Mobile Steemit Application

in #steemit6 years ago (edited)

Today I am reviewing SteemApp which @yuriks2000 was so kind to let me beta test. This app aims to make posting Steemit articles from your phone much easier. Let’s see how it does! Learn more about the application here.

Testing an image below which was pasted in from my mobile device....

Unfortunately this post didn't come out exactly as I had hoped. But hey... this is exactly why it's in beta testing so that all of the bugs can be worked out. I look forward to future updates so that we can revisit this application again.

It showed no image when you posted earlier . I hope they work it out .

Thanks so much for the SBD! You continue to provide great value in more ways than one.

You're very welcome. I'm just glad we got connected here! :)

That's cool @brandofyne
i just watched you on youtube

Hey i actually find you in youtube and learn a lot about steemit from your videos! Thanks for everything I'll keep up to date!

Excellent! Thanks for letting me know where you found me.. and for following me here. :)

Sure. I followed you, at the moment that I saw your YouTube, you are talking about exactly what I just want to know, waiting for the nexts posts. thank you very much!

Yeah man, if this blockchain starts focusing on mobile this year...Big things ahead. I see Steepshot messing with the iOS app today and of course Appics' ICO is being released in a few weeks.

Things like this will take Steem and the entire community to another level. Sad to see that balance take a hit though man....It'll bounce back tho ;)

Yes, I just got the iOS Steepshot app and LOVE IT! I was so glad to see that.

I really want to connect my mobile to steemit .

New application nice, I'm wondering if it's better than the one I'm using right now.

It might be in the future. Will be a little bit before it's rolled out to the public. But I'm very optimistic about this app.

The only problems I have with the application I'm using is, sometimes you have to connect to a different server, you have to click follow a couple times to make sure you really follow someone. Truthfully there's nothing truly wrong with this app, there's still a lot so room for Improvement.

I BEEN USING IT ITS PRETTY DOPE

Not working too well at the moment for iOS but my testing should help get it there. 😁👍

Can’t see it yet... I am also on my mobile...

I'll be posting a video in just a few to explain it and how it works.

I can't see the photo and im on my laptop

Yeah, it's just a bug in the app. I'll be posting a video in just a few explaining the app and how it's supposed to work. :)

Can't see the image either. Though, a Steem app? That's so cool!! :D

Yeah, sorry about that. But I'll have my video up in just a minute explaining how it works. It's currently in beta testing so there are some bugs to work out. But looks very promising!

They do have a great thing going, hope they fix all the glitches and roll it out soon love the colors as well they should keep the color scheme, it would be great if the app could integrate other platforms within don't know if i'm making any sense but like having busy, steepshot and other platforms in one place would be so great rather having a bunch of different apps. But maybe that won't be possible since i'm sure they probably will want to make their own, thanks for sharing Brandon.

I agree, I think the color scheme looks good... even if it's purple lol. It goes great with the Steemit green. And I see what you're saying... although it wouldn't really be possible. I guess one way to look at it is the Steem Blockchain is sort of like the internet. And these different apps are like websites. So while they all use the same network.. they need to be separate. Hope that makes sense.

Yes it does make sense steem block chain is what they operate on so each one stands alone, just thinking about my phone space and having to go back and forth lol but i do that with other social media so just have to do the same here.

Thanks for showing us some work in progress. But too early for me. I'll try it when it is out of beta and when it is available for android.

Steemit has been really laggy lately. I Can Make And Pour Tea Faster Than The Steemit Website Will Open.. Hard Time Are Ahead Boys!

Yep, it's painfully slow today. I'm gonna take a step away from my computer for a bit and come back later. I know they just added a TON of new users to Steemit this week so that's likely causing some congestion.

I think the app is a start but would love the ability to review posts and make comments as well.

Right, same here. I'm looking forward to them adding that to the app.

Looks cool, can't wait to try it out myself. Thanks for review. I'm interested to understand how to implement a crypto payment method in business, foe example in coffee shop that everyone could pay for their coffee or tea with crypto. Could you help out with info what is needed for that to happen, maybe recommend some expert. Thanks

Hey @samaritanfriend, thanks for the comments. And yes, there are a couple of different ways to take payments in crypto. LitePay (https://www.litepay.us) is one option. CoinBase Commerce is another option (https://commerce.coinbase.com). I haven't read too much on them as I'm not in a position to need such a merchant.. but I hope that helps!

Thanks @brandonfrye I will check that info out.

The app looks cool @brandonfrye.

I think, This app will be quite beneficial for those who like to use Mobile more often, As you showed us in the video that there is still errors out there, but I don't think that is a big deal because It is in early development and it needs some time to improve the overall quality. The UI of the app is quite good and The UX is awesome because it is very easy to use.

True, my girlfriend is one of those people. I personally just use my laptop all the time but I totally get it that people want to be more mobile (or at least have the option). Thanks as always for your comments!

you are welcome Brandon! I mostly use my iMac and laptop for this purpose.

If Steemit is to grow and become a real alternative to the big social network sites then the mobile experience has to become a lot better. This is a start I guess.

Agreed. Luckily, Steemit Inc. also has an app in the works. Keep in mind that Facebook also didn't have a mobile app when it first launched so we're playing a little bit of catch up. But we have a lot of highly experienced developers working on mobile apps for all of the applications. SteepShot just released a beta of their mobile app and it's awesome! I'll probably share that in an upcoming post.

I am looking forward to this app. I use an iPhone and have been wanting an app to use so I can post using it.

Something new everytime on your post .

How many apps do we have here ? I am beginning to like steemit .

I think that this is really interesting! This is the first that I am hearing of this. I think having a steem app will make the steemit platform that much more accessible for those who use their phones a lot and I know a lot of people on here like to use their phones to access steemit. Steemit is becoming more and more popular and, with projects like this app, dtube, and steembay, this platform is becoming a one stop shop for everything. Who knows this may even help the price of steem start to climb like it did when steembay started.

Very interesting app, I hope it will not take any of our rewards like esteem and others ?

Hi @brandonfrye. I have just landed on your blog (here) from the link on your Youtube channel. I was on Youtube to research about curation rewards and Steem witnesses. I stumbled across videos you did which were super-helpful. It's amazing how much I thought I knew... but found out I did not actually know.
I will be following you for more!

This is great! A majority of my posts so far are from a mobile device.

Hope they can work out the kinks. This could be huge for steem.

Just found your youtube channel about steemit! Thank for all the great tips, I'm new here and I'm learning a lot from you.

Excellent video @brandonfrye, thanks a lot for testing and making such a cool video! You have helped us a lot.

  1. From your video we could see that it is not very clear that you can actually swipe through the bold, italic, heading icons to find more of them to the right. That is so cool that you made us notice that. We will try to make it more clear to all the users.

  2. Turns out, image upload is also not very clear in our app. You can actually do that with a camera icon on the right of the keyboard. That was the way we planned users would add photos. But we will make them upload even if you just past them like you did.

  3. It is so cool to see video test like yours to help us improve the app. Thank you so much!

By the way we fixed the bug with the title, which you experienced. Working on fixing the rest before the release.

Nice!! Thanks so much. I will be testing again in a video soon. Together we can get all the bugs out before it goes live. Thanks again for letting me test it!
