Judging for the semi-final round is finally complete. We are waiting on final results from two judges. Once that information is received, the semi-finalists will be posted here.

The final count of accepted and judged submissions stands at 141!
The payout will be as follows for this first contest.
$50 SBD to the 1st place winner.
$20 SBD to the 2nd and 3rd place winners.
For every 10 entries starting at 30 entries, we have added another winner's slot for $5 SBD.
30 entries = 4th place winning slot for $5 SBD
40 entries = 5th place winning slot for $5 SBD
...
So, 140 entries = 15th place winner's slot for $5 SBD.
Total prize fund = 50 + 20 + 20 + (12 x 5) = 150 SBD!!
Two honorable mentions will be given.
Note: A 15th place slot was added above on 3/8/18
when it was determined that two more submissions did not appear on the programmatically generated spreadsheet because the contestants submitted via https://busy.org instead of https://steemit.com (The program that generated the spreadsheet looked only for "https://steemit.com". )
These entries where fully judged by 3 judges and have not been disqualified. They just did not get tallied in the total count until now.

Judges will be awarded $2.5 SBD one time + .1 SBD for each article they evaluated (plus .1 each for the reevaluation in the finals round).

The next step to the finals.
Once I receive a secure memo from all judges, with their top 5 candidates, I will then ask each judge to post the same list to a reply under this post. The secure memo has been used to to give contestants assurance that no judge's opinion is swayed by another judges selection.
Once all semi-finalist are posted here, they will be are reviewed again by all judges. It is possible and fully acceptable if less than 7 judges participate in the final round if other commitments preclude their involvement.
The finals round will allow all active judges to review all semi-finalist. Once judging is complete, each judge will post via a secure memo, their final score for each submission. These final grades will then be averaged AFTER removing the top and bottom numbers. This result will determine the final winners.
If there is a tie, I will break it by reviewing the competing articles as required.
No opinions or comments will be shared between judges or to contestants until the the finalist are posted. More than anything we want to host a transparent and honest contest that adds quality and substance to our platform that ultimately rewards talent.
I would expect that we will be another several days before we can announce the final winners. Please stay tuned and again, thank you for your patience, it has been an overwhelming success and we truly want to thank everyone who submitted an article and of course our judges for keeping things moving.

The top and bottom scores for each entry will be removed. The remaining scores will be averaged to determine the top 17 slots (2 honorable mentions).

Shouldn't the judges be using a uniform scoring method for the final round? I may have a different system in evaluating entries from the others where I could be putting more emphasis on something that some judges may not deem as important. And vice-versa. Just a suggestion.
