Yes, you've done right thing by sharing these stats and clearly i can say that this is reflecting the true economic state and effective population numbers of Steem Blockchain, and the retention analysis is not that effective for Steem because many accounts are created for different reasons as you mentioned, and in my opinion these accounts are created may be for bot, spam, scam, multiple accounts for friends and family, own multiple accounts and created for just like that when you have options. So, all these dynamics have to taken into account before talking about the retention.
Yes, Steem is not get rich easy scheme when you are not investor and you have option to get good returns if you gain influential followers through your effective content and also the Networking Strategy should also be effective.
