The Louwman Museum, the rarest and most beautiful private car collection in the world.

Hello steemers,

Today I took a trip to the Louwman car museum and I wanted to give you a small impression of it.

The museum holds more than two hundred and fifty antique and classic motor cars and is considered to be the rarest and most beautiful private car collection in the world. From steam engines to Le Mans racing cars, to cars from famous people and movies, the museum has it all. Spanning more than 10.000 m² and three floors, it will take you about two hours to complete the tour.

Cars from movies

To my surprise there were a couple of cars from famous people and movies.

Rijkspolitie (highway patrol)
One of the reason why I went to the museum today is for the collection of national police Porsches.

From 1960 to 1996 there was an elite police unit on the Dutch highways, called the police Porsches group. Consisting of specially selected and trained police officers, they would drive around in clearly recognizable cars in combination with a white jacket, white gloves and orange pothelm. These guardians of the highway would shout corrections using a megaphone to drivers and only in extreme cases stop them to write a ticket, which in my humble opinion is a better system than it is today.

This is just a very small selection of what you can see in this museum and if you are in the neighborhood it is definitely worth checking out.

If you would like to learn more about the museum check out their website and or Facebook page.
