Liberation Album - Come On

in #steemit7 years ago

"Come on" is a video inspired by my journey and time in America as a first generation immigrant/ refugee. The songs starts out with Bryan Doe signing soulfully "Come on home" serving as a calling for those that have lost their path on the road greatness and encouraging them to start from the beginning (home) and retrace their steps. My verse starts out " Now I was boomin' off the boat since Coney Island" referencing the historic landmark for immigrants that signifies their arrival in this beautiful place we call America and the ambition and drive it takes to make it over here. Graydon Francis completes the chorus by repeating the word "Survivor" all throughout the song as a term of encouragement to keep your head up regardless of what's going on in the world around. Also, to always stand strong in the face of adversity regardless of the odds.

Behind the scenes notes:

This video took about 3 hours from start to finish. Although it looks sunny we shoot this video in February in Minnesota and the temp was about 30 degrees at best. If you look carefully you'll see a lot of people on the train and some folks in the background wearing jackets.

The scene in the light rail was completely spontaneous but turned out to be a great addition to the video.
