RE: Circle-jerkers, bidbots and the 2nd Amendment

Ha. I mean in that it should make content more easily discoverable to those that are interested in certain types of content, and there's buying upvotes will be less of a necessity.

For example, I should be able to create an account, and on day 1 post an amazing article about soccer, and soccer fans should be able to easily see that content and vote it accordingly.

The system doesn't currently work in that way. That's why you have all this shit. Bots are like a workaround.

Sort:

Soccer? oh, football.. (people look at me strangely when I say soccer here) ;)

Bots are like a workaround.

Not a very good one since they don't really increase exposure or attract quality followers interested in the content.

Well as you know, in Australia we have another "football". I'm a fan of both sports so I don't mind using either term for "soccer"

It's not a great workaround, but for what it doesn't do with visibility, it also returns a profit on the transaction. Granted it might be a short term outlook but for now it has a role to play, especially to people who don't have any significant following or SP

Me either. I use it still, no matter the strange looks.

The return doesn't incentivise actual engagement, commenting, content development etc though, so the accounts will always have to purchase. Just another debt cycle.

It doesn't, but the idea is that someone might see your content that might not have otherwise seen it, and if they like it they might hit follow.. that's why it's important they the content had a bit of effort put in, and that comments are responded to, upvoted, etc.

At least that's how I see it / hope.
