Well it looks like things are not going our way this December in the crypto sphere.
Bitcoin is just over $4,000 and seems to be wavering back and forth giving no clear indication which way it's going to go.

Steem is sitting at $0.33 and there was a recent announcement that 70% of the workforce was laid off.
Now each of us has our own stake, and our own concern.
You might be thinking that last year around this time Steem was $8, but that isn't exactly true. Steem was about $0.88 right around this time if I remember correctly.
Lots of people on the forums that I was visiting were saying that Steem is dead, because it wasn't showing any forward momentum.
It wasn't until January that we actually saw that huge jump up.
It wasn't based on any particular thing happening in the world of Steem. There really wasn't much happening after all.
Now we have this news that the different dapp developers and possibly the witnesses are going to have to create their own full nodes.
Honestly I'm sure most of us don't even fully understand what it means, but it does indicate that the load on Steemit is too much for STINC to handle by themselves.
That seems like bad news, especially with the price being $0.33. However, it could be a good thing because it is possible that will it force Steem to advance to it's next level.
SMTs may no longer be right around the corner.
Nevertheless, there are a lot of positive things happening in the community, and we are in a much better position from an investor standpoint than we ever have been before.

We are in a better position than we ever have been before.
What I mean to say is that we are in a better position to rise up than we ever have been before.
There are so many good things going on, and so many different things to look forward to in the Steem community.
I'm glad that I'm part of it here at the beginning of everything.... because I know that this is just the beginning.
It's true that it's An Unexpected December, but that doesn't mean that everything is going to go down. Even if it does go down more, I am positive that we will keep heading forward.

It's a very different December from one year ago (although, we won't truly know until the end of the month!) Though it's been a somewhat difficult year in the crypto markets, I'm grateful for what experiencing this part of the cycle for the first time has taught me. I'm also really thankful to have found @steemmonsters recently and I definitely think blockchain-based gaming has a HUGE future.
I agree. Now I'm waiting for Chibera. It's looking to be the next MMO based on the Steem blockchain. Open world Steem baby.
