I have experienced this very thing you are talking about. It can be very frustrating especially if it was something good you have writen and spent time on. As @seablue mentioned get in the habit of using an external editor for large articles. Sometimes I will write my posts in a text editor first and then only ad my content and picture to steemit once I am done. Cheerz
It happened to me and another person I know. They just disappear upon creation. I would start to get in the habit of using an external editor for large articles.
Nex time you better prepare your post in for example notes bedore copying all text to Steemit. Hope you still know what you wrote so you can post it again
I had a similar situation. The post was written. I sent it. He appeared in the "news" section and...disappeared right in front of me. I had to write again. Very sorry @karenb54 :(

Say "golly, gosh" and do a retype. It will usually end up a better story the second time around.

OMG I'm not the only one then! I did a post about 2:30pm EST. It showed on my screen as posted. I left the house for a few hours, came back to see how it went and it was GONE!! I even wrote a post about it! From now on, I am writing them in Google Docs, then cut and paste!!! I was mildly miffed!!!

You have to start again. @thedegensloth created a whole announcement post for @zappl and it just went poof!! . Gone on creation.
The strange thing is it briefly appears in your feed, but when you visit it, it says it doesn't exist.

Google 'markdown editor' and find a reputable one for your chosen operating system. I'm using 'Remarkable'.

Say " GOLLY , GOSH" , think back to high school learning how to typewrite. Repitition makes you faster. It won't take half as long next time.
