Hey @kevinwong, you thought you would stop writing these guides but then still went ahead and wrote one to help newbies. I think that's pretty awesome on your part. Not everyone has that desire to reach out to others, but here at steemit, there are a few good souls doing exactly the same. It's very important for newbies like me who is yet to post a blog and these blogs will be our guiding light in this steem path. I read in the quick start guide that the best way to receive is by start giving first unconditionally.
Thanks for your post @kevinwong. May your tribe grow..

Lol it's partly because I'm struggling finishing up some of my non-Steem related stuff! Thanks for the kind words, are you getting a good foothold of the platform?

Yes. It's still early days for me here. So it is learning and more learning. Getting the hang of it a bit. Well I have never blogged in my life earlier, so this is a totally new thing to me. But then I feel very good about it. First time in a long time, I opened steemit instead of FB as soon as I woke up in the morning. I guess that sums up :)

Could not agree more. I post and I comment. I find that my posts that contain images are noticed much more. Also, have an opinion. It is okay if people disagree, it sparks conversations and helps you see all perspectives.

words Vs pictures...i will be glad if am been followed by you sir.

Excellently written. I pretty guide the same thing when someone asks me about On-Page SEO of their blog.

The main thing that matters is the user experience one can provide. Its not a one shot and go process, you need something to make the first time visitor pay attention to your profile and get interested to read your other posts.

Writing similar contents also help a lot. You can interlink them which makes the content richer.

I am finding a lot of similarty between Steemit and Standard Blogging Software like WP.

And personally i have searched a few dedicated users who posts amazing content here. I am regularly following their posts by manually visiting their profile if i miss.

Learnt a lot in my one week at Steemit platform. :)

Thank You for the post.

Thanks @nirmal, not too sure about writing similar contents, but i think that's probably pragmatic for those new to the platform. As time goes on once building a following and making friends, I think being casual with posting works, as it should!

Yup, but only after gaining certain authority. :)

Wow your guide for newbies was truly helpful. it has broadened my faculty on the possibility and opportunity one can harness on this platform.
keep on the gold work you are doing

i read the content. now i am cleared that which type of posts should be published on steemit to get maximum feedbacks and leads.... thank you dear you did good job....

i need help in build my followers,i will be glad if am been followed by you. am working on interesting posts but it will go not much noticed if i start posting now..thanks..

Sure. Following :)

Url for prifilnya photo we take from where master ,,,,,,,,,,,, ????

you can try google "image upload" then upload your own pic and use the URL

thank you master @kevinwong for you infomation

Hello @kevinwong

I run a contest for new steemians on @literature trail, and I get a truck load of questions and I always try to answer them to my best ability.

Thank you for making this post , It answers a whole lot of questions that are In the Mind Of New Steemians.

One of the reasons I started The Blockchain Blogger Interview series was because I wanted to not only give them advice.

It also gives them an opportunity to hear from Older Steemains the approaches they took in growing their blog, and how they can use It to Model their Steemit Efforts.

Thanks for this.

@ogochukwu

So many things going on in the Steem ecosystem! Thanks for all that you're doing!

Just doesn't get better than this. Great post as always

Thanks @andrarchy for the support as always!

Great guide, and great tips !
You got yourself another follower :)

Thanks :) how are u finding it so far?

do you mean steemit in general ?
well, i find it to be a very high quality qumunity and feel very fortunate to be one of the first adopter and investors in steem. i feel great about it!
i wish i could be a content provider, i hope one day i will...
my passions are soccer, especially FC Barcelona. but unfortunately it seems that not much people here interested in that..

I know you said to avoid it, but great post! It covers all the things a new user would like to know. The only thing I am missing is some elaboration about upvoting, since voting in the first 30 minutes of existence of a post, the upvote is worth less.

Then check this post out and follow the author too! (one of the best curators i know)
https://steemit.com/curation/@liberosist/mind-your-votes-ii-a-guide-to-maximizing-your-curation-rewards

Thank you for putting all this information together. It really makes a difference. I will try to follow as much as possible your advices and incorporate them into my next posts. As you mentioned, the potential payouts for newbies are influenced by quality, luck and I would say timing. The moment you publish something can make a huge difference. For sure the number of followers count as well no matter their reputation level.

Still learning a lot about this awesome community and platform.

Have fun doing it! Personally i wouldn't really consider much about the timing and all. Just steemit :)

That's the plan:) I enjoy being here. Lots of wonderful persons with tones of good things to share. Made a few new friends too:)

Steem on! Enjoy your week-end!

Excellent guide, Kevin. Resteemed. :)

thanks @joanaltres - appreciate it!

Cool! What a great passage.

As you mentioned, it is very important to paste a image in the post. Same as facebook, using an attractive image in the post will attract more viewer.

You reminded us how to contribute in order to make this community better.

Anyway, thank you for all you reminded us.

Thank you for your insight I am brand-new to steem this month! I am super excited about getting started and participating in community with so many different aspects of life . I am interested in following some of my hobbies on this platform. So far my experience has been that the community is welcoming and open to new members. So far I have also found the information to be a five star quality. So I just wanted to take the time to introduce myself @ryan313 ... and say thank you for writing an article for newbies.

Hi @ryan313, thanks for dropping a word - appreciate it :) good to hear that's the case. Community has taken a life of its own lol, we used to know what's happening overall but not really now. Have fun!

Great advice. I wish I would've known this when I started about a month ago. I thought resteeming was awesome to show appreciation for articles I liked and a good way to help out others. Which it is. Although now I'm finding it fills up my blog space and if people want to read the blogs I've written they are hidden amongst them and that's a hastle. :) It'd be nice if steemit had a seperate folder or something to put resteems into. Have a wonderful day.

Haha we didn't use to have that problem because resteem wasn't a thing a year ago. But yes, I've noticed that it's working against new accounts that are trigger happy with the resteem, it occludes their own materials.. Thanks for dropping by!

For me so far..... no blogging but comment, comment, comment, Surf around and meet your community! Beyond that have fun cause it's lots of that! Enjoyed!

Try to come up with one or two long posts of stuff u really wanna write about, then go commenting ;)

I'll do this! Thank you. I'm always learning and open to suggestions.

Another great piece to offer to the new comer and the happy-go-lucky "old-timers"! Thanks a bunch for the quality of it all and its clarity. Namaste :)

Haha thanks @eric-boucher good times. I wish i can spend more time around here. Indeed I'm looking to free myself up more! Interesting times

Thanks for the advice. Will try to incorporate them in my future articles. I find it hard to fulfill this for "short" posts though.

Short is okay, but I think not very advisable for new accounts. It's better to spend time on a post and have other accounts to get to know you and stuff that you're interested in :) - that way if you get someone influential to check out your account, at least it'll look like something that could use more support.

Thanks so much Keviwong. I joined steem barely 3 days ago and currently learning around it to help me introduce others to it. Your post is very helpful to me in particular since I am a Newbie as you rightly put it. More grease to your elbows.

Have fun Steeming ;) just read up and stuff. Setup your profile etc. :)

I like it, these types of articles are great for both new and experienced users. Regarding resteeming.... have you heard anything about havent a seperate collum for resteems so it is easier to find your own posts?

Nope.. still waiting for that to be solved. At the moment I limit myself to a max of 3 re-steems / own post..

Learned that the hard way. Buried all my original posts before figuring it out

That would be very helpful. :)

Thank you for sharing what your thought processes is when writing a post. I sometimes forget that even the biggest power users started from zero. It's very humbling and I think putting aside the dreams of financial success and just focusing on writing good stuff that other people want to share is the approach that I will take!

I know it's cheesy to say "forget about the money", but that's how it works for most human endeavours, it's almost like a side effect that comes as a bonus.

These insights will be really helpful for me going forward. I've been on here less than a week but have been learning quickly, mainly due to spending hours a day reading and commenting on the fantastic content that is created here. Steemit can be quite addictive! I created a post yesterday which I thought was good and was a little disappointed that it didn't get much attention, but I realise I need to be patient and I can't expect too much with just 60 followers. As you say here it has taken you 1 year to get to where you're at now.

The platform's only 1 year old. Plenty more space for growth :)

Good post, I'm somewhat frustrated after the first few days. I've posted what I consider to be some good, well thought out material but it doesn't really get seen. I guess it's a matter of time and consistency.

I've been writing on facebook for almost no audience for 10 years. Half of the time, they're private notes. Now i just write openly around here. Have fun :)

Hey @kevinwong as soon as i read this, i knew what i had been doing wrong.
Just started couple of days ago and have invested myself for long term here. I am gonna follow you, i think you are going to be a great help for improving my contents and blogs. Thanks Dude!

Have fun! (btw your profile pic isn't loading up)

Thank you for the tips, diving head first into almost alien (at least in my case) concept can be confusing. And while there are certainly many ways to get a task done it almost seems like a lot of the "new help guides" tend to be extremely vauge and dont really seem to say anything to help alleviate it.

Time to update your profile settings! :)

Are the value of your posted based on the amount of followers you have? I am so confused. One post I make $5.00 and another post has similar votes and only gets me 10 cents.

Hey there. It's based on Steem Power. More Steem Power = more influence / value in votes. It's not about the amount of followers, but the account which voted for you. If they have high stakes on the platform, you'll get more from their votes.

So its based on the votes on you get from people with the most steem power? Sorry for all the questions. I am just tired of writting hour long posts to get less money than someone who posts a meme

Lol value is subjective and there's luck/discovery matters too. Yes, it depends on what you want to achieve. You're gonna have a real bad time if you start comparing, seriously.. but it's something that we all learn over time around here.. I'd say, build your body of work here. Nobody's getting anything from other social platforms..

Oh ok. I just seem some people that have some consistancy to there blog post earnings. I guess Ill try different things. Thanks for the help.

Experimenting is always good :)

Hey kevinwong, but how can a newbie grow his steem power, if there is no big whale voting for him? Your account will always be low, doesn't it?

thank you very much for this advice, im a newbie at first i couldn't understand what this is, there are lots of question running in my mind, this post was a big help for all the newbie like me, thank you and i hope there's more idea you can share with us.

Steemit may seem like a big, confusing jungle at first!

absolutely sir, it's very confusing and i can't even know where do i start Lol and how do i earn.

I think all of this advice is super solid especially the part about not concerning yourself with the money at first i think people approach it differently then any other social media because of the fact that people are trying to get get maximum payments when i dont think that should be the main objective of the site rather and amazing feature that comes with it

Well it could be a good motivator to aim for something that'll grab attention, with substance to go along with it :)

great post and I am trying to put myself out there it is hard for sure, I am writing about the adventure I am taking on with starting a 40 acre homestead in the middel of nowhere, and it does get fustrating seeing your post not go anywhere and you see other post that to you are stupid and dont see any benefit of getting all kinds of attention and upvotes and or paid on and your like HOW, but in the end you just have to do your thing and put out there what matters to you and hope someone likes it and it not move on to the next post

Best to keep going and commenting, the main point is to have others look into your account once and know you've been putting plenty into your blogs :) all the best ! (u can start by updating profile settings..)

It really helps a lot to know all these tips for a newbie!

And I wanted to know, these tips could help the spanish community a lot, but this guy is of your authoring. I want to help the community grow, so can I translate this article and give it to you so you can post it on spanish ?

Feel free to translate them and post on your own!

Thank you for your insights - I've read a couple of these newcomer tip type posts, and the two most important factors brought up most seem to be consistency and effort.

As you said, it took you a year of constantly engaging with the platform to build yourself.

Yes, now the community seems to have taken a life of its own, back then i knew whatever's going on, but not now. have fun with the platform!

This is the greatest, i thought i had it figured out cause i can Do THIS , but it turns out I have lots to learn yet <3 cheers @kevinwong

Haha do this, plenty of fun stuff with texts. Just try not to bold all texts.. i've seen that quite often!

I think the advice is still relevant and there are a lot of new users. There has been talk of the site guiding new users on what steps they should take, but I guess that is still being worked on. At some point it needs to go multi-lingual too. Steemit is growing fast, but there are billions of potential users out there who will need help getting started.

Oh gosh, billions?! Now i'm even finding it hard to go through "new" already lol

I think some of the existing features will not scale. There's a challenge in handling massive numbers, but Ned says he is up for that

I am not paying proper attention and time to the second step... a serious mistake

It takes time for sure.. but yeah a social platform is social :)

Well, I started to fix it, set a goal to write at least 10 comments a day. Not something like "Hey, great post, mate!", something more personal and on topic, like this one :p

Thanks for the instructions that made me move.

I just learned that Upvoting, Resteeming a Hot Post like this would give earnings. Please make me believe.

emo20.png

Perhaps, the heart of it is that you're voting on stuff before it becomes popular. The best is to vote on near $0.00 posts than posts that are already like $100. You get better rewards curating stuff that are unnoticed :)

check out this guide here: https://steemit.com/curation/@liberosist/mind-your-votes-ii-a-guide-to-maximizing-your-curation-rewards

I see.. I've read that one too. But one post says, it should be trending or hot. Well, I'll try both.

New and totally undiscovered is the best :)

can you share a link as an example of that New and totally undiscovered post.

@kevinwong thanks for sharing this information.
Very helpful my man.
I will do as your command

Haha i don't command anyone.. just suggesting stuff!

Yeahh.
But you have good experience in steemit.
I must to study again in your post.
If you have time.
Join my post. Help them to grow up

Thank you for the info. Im new to this and wasnt really sure what this whole thing is about. Gonna work on everything you suggested! 👍👍👍

This should be put in the introduction guides for people who just create an account.

There wasn't any guides? I thought there were. Sometimes this place is still a mystery to me..

There are, but this -> Quick Start Guide isn't as good as yours.

I think he was saying that your post should be included in the already existing introduction guides for new accounts.

don't forget the most important step: plenty of coffee.

Great article. It really helps out new people like me. Thank you. But I can't figure out how to upload a profile picture???

You can use image hosting sites to host ur pics. Or click on Submit New Story (post), then

Upload ur pic, and grab the link

I actually tried the latter. It said it was an invalid html. Ill try again. thank you for your time and reply back. Appreciate it very much.

Well written-explained post not only for newbies but for all steemit community.
Thanks for your effort and guidance .

Update your profile! ^^

Am i missing something ? What i must do ? thanks

thanks

An old post is very useful one! I follow your suggestions. Thank you very much @kevinwong, warmest regard from Aceh, Indonesia.

Thanks, good for me to go back over these points every now and then.

Definately a great post. Thanks for the advice. My first post may have looked a little spammy and i just joined. Thx for the help. Ill be posting my success of 6 to 7 weeks in the crypto world, in hopes of helping new comers see how easy it can be. And hopefully make it appealing. I wasnt doing much with my life and the crypto world may put me back on my feet.

Had not thought about diving into new posts. Sometimes the easy and simple ideas are the best ones!

I think it is a good job that you have picked up posting for new steemians.
I have read a lot of these posts, as everybody has their own way of building his Steem environment.
It is important to take all these advises and use the ones that fit you the most. That is why, in my opinion, posts like these are very interesting, not only for new people, but also for people who have been here for a month, to have new insights in how to grow, get more followers and work on their profile.

thanks for information, great news

Great advise my crypto-brother, solid work, thanks for sharing. If this is not taking social media to the next level then I dunno what is..

Congratulations @kevinwong!
