This proverb is a great reminder that living for pleasure is a dead end. A life of helping others over ourselves as well as hard work is the way to go!

Although my wife does cook with olive oil, so I can't avoid that entirely.
I get the meaning of this scripture though, it's about being in love with sensual pleasures like eating and drinking. We all love our food and drink, but it shouldn't rule our life.
But why to stay away from olive oil only & not from all other oils😉? What's wrong with olive? 😇
