I'm having a hard time explaining my relatives how Steemit works. They can't understand Steemit's business model. People question me so much about whether Steemit is sustainable that sometimes I doubt myself.
Steemit's business model is in a way very simple: The content is produced and money is earned in return.
Steemit's business model is somewhat difficult to understand: It's financial system is very complex.
In this article, I would like to explain how Steemit can pay to content creators. Although I have done a lot of research on this subject, I can not claim to be the expert of the subject, but I think I understand the system to a large extent.
Steem is a money with inflation, unlike other crypto currencies. There's about 9% annual inflation. This inflation rate will drop gradually over time to 0.95% after 20 years.
Because of inflation, Steem is created in every new block on the Steemit blockchain. (About 1,66 Steems is created every 3 seconds) 75% of these Steems are transferred to the reward pool, 10% to witnesses operating the Steemit system, and 15% to Steem power owners.
75% of the money generated in the reward pool is distributed as author reward to content producers and 25% as a curation reward to Steem power owners.
You may not be satisfied with the answer that Steem is a crypto currency with inflation. Because this argument does not explain where and for what reason the money enters the system.
Money enters the system through exchanges by people buying Steem or SBP. The money get out from the system again through the sales of Steem or SBD through the exchanges. The price of Steemit currencies rises when the money entering is higher than the money exiting.
So why are people buying Steem? Is the system a Ponzi scheme? Steemit is not a Ponzi scheme because it creates a tangible value. We can understand this by comparing Steemit with Facebook.
Facebook makes money from ads on it's site or application. Payments for these ads are made on Facebook in the currency of the country. Steemit also makes money from promotion. Those who want to promote themselves or their product at Steemit invest in Steem and turn it into Steem power and get the opportunity to stand out on the system. Steem owners can promote themselves and their content through upvote bots or by using the "promote" feature.
It's like placing ads on Facebook or Google on a platform that has more than 1 million members, and the difference is that one payment is made with traditional money, and the other with crypto currency.
The more the Steemit platform and Steem currency is used, the more community members benefit from it. The higher the number of users, the more attractive the Steemit is.
Considering that the number of users of the platform increased by 80,000 per month, we can say that Steemit does not have a problem of failure.
Success is of course a relative concept. We have seen that the Steem price has declined in recent months.
The change in the price of Steem serves as a balancing mechanism for the system. When enough money does not enter from outside, the price of Steem drops and this situation the creates an opportunity to benefit from the promotion potantial in a cheaper way.
As a result, we can say that Steemit will surely succeed. Steemit Inc and the community members will determine how bright the success will be.

Bu yazıda Steemit'in içerik üretenlere nasıl ödeme yapabildiğini açıklamak istiyorum. Bu konuda epeyce araştırma yapmış rağmen konuya bütünüyle hakim olabildiğimi iddia edemem ama sistemi büyük ölçüde anladığımı düşünüyorum.
Steem diğer kripto paralardan farklı olarak enflasyonu olan bir para. Yıllık %9 dolayında bir enflasyonu var. Bu enflasyon oranı zaman içinde istrikrarlı bir biçimde azalarak 20 yıl sonra %0,95'e düşecek.
Enflasyon nedeniyle blok zinciri üzerinde her yeni blokta Steem yaratılıyor. (3 saniyede bir yaklaşık 1,66 steem) Yaratılan bu Steem'lerin %75'i ödül havuzuna, %10'u steem sistemini işleten witness'lara ve %15'i Steem gücü sahiplerine aktarılıyor.
Ödül havuzunda oluşan paranın %75'i içerik üretenlere yazarlık ödülü olarak, %25'i ise Steem gücü sahiplerine kürasyon ödülü olarak dağıtılıyor.
Steem'in enflasyonu olan bir kripto para birimi olduğuna dair yanıt sizi tatmin etmemiş olabilir. Çünkü bu argüman sisteme paranın nereden ve hangi nedenle girdiğini açıklamıyor.
Sisteme para exchangeler üzerinde steem ya da SBD satın alanlar tarafından sokulmuş oluyor. Sistemden para çıkışı ise yine exchangeler üzerinden Steem ya da SBD satışı ile oluyor. Giren para çıkan paradan yüksek olduğunda Steem para birimlerinin fiyatı yükseliyor.
Peki insanlar neden Steem alıyorlar? Bu bir saadet zinciri mi? Steemit somut bir değer yarattığı için herhangi bir saadet zincirine benzemiyor. Bu durumu Steemit'i Facebook ile karşılaştırarak anlayabiliriz.
Facebook site ya da uygulamasında yer alan reklamlardan para kazanıyor. Bu reklamlara ilişkin ödemeler Facebook'a ilgili ülkenin para birimi üzerinden yapılıyor. Steemit de bir anlamda reklamlardan para kazanıyor. Steemit'te kendisini veya ürününü öne çıkarmak isteyenler yatırım yaparak Steem satın alıyor ve bunu Steem gücüne dönüştürerek sistem üzerinde öne çıkma fırsatı elde ediyor. Steem sahipleri teklif botları aracılığıyla ya da "promote" özelliğini kullanarak kendilerini ve içeriklerini öne çıkarabiliyorlar.
1 milyonu aşkın üyesi olan bir platformda öne çıkmak Facebook ya da Google'a reklam vermeye benziyor, aradaki fark birinde ödemenin geleneksel parayla, diğerinde kripto parayla yapılması.
Steemit platformu ve Steem para birimi ne kadar çok kullanılırsa topluluk üyeleri bundan o kadar fazla yararlanıyor. Kullanıcı sayısı arttıkça Steemit'te öne çıkmanın cazibesi o kadar artmış oluyor.
Platformun kullanıcı sayısının ayda 80 bin kişi arttığını dikkate aldığımızda Steemit'in başarısız olmasını gerektiren bir durum olmadığını söyleyebiliriz.
Başarı elbette göreceli bir kavram. Steem fiyatının son dönemde gerilemiş olmasını bir problem olarak görebiliriz.
Steem fiyatının değişken olması sistem açısından bir denge mekanizması görevi görüyor. Dışarıdan sisteme yeterince para girmediği zaman Steem fiyatı düşüyor ve bu durum platformun promosyon imkanlarından daha ucuz bir biçimde yararlanma olanağı doğuruyor.
Sonuç olarak Steemit'in elbette başarılı olacağını söyleyebiliriz. Elde edilecek başarının ne kadar parlak olacağını ise topluluk üyeleri belirleyecek.

Every investment has a risk and never invest money more than you willing to lose. I was amazed to those who maxed out their credit limit for the sake of this investment which is most riskiest thing you will do in your entire life.
However, I believe in Steem more than given all the data and facts shown by 3rd party research. We have a great technology and that will drive the price up!

Çok geniş bir yelpazeyi hedef aldığı için başarılı olacaktır düşüncesindeyim.
Steemit değil ama steemit üzerinden arkadaşçılık oynayanlar başarısız olacaklardır. Çünkü steemit eskiye nazaran çok daha tecrübeli. Projelerden tutun kullanıcılara kadar bu tecrübe yansıyor. Örneğin arkadaşınıza sürekli ödüllendirme sistemi hayal ettiğinizde, aslında bunu platformdan yapabiliyorsunuz fakat çok karlı olmuyorsunuz. Her geçen gün bu konuda iyileştirmeler devam ediyor. Steemit temasına göre rast gele içerikler değil amacı olan içeriklerin ödüllendirilmesi daha uygun ve işlevsel görünüyor.

Steemit is basically the only cryptocurrency with a functioning product, which means that it should be valued at higher than it currently is right now. Does it have it's problems? Sure. They seem to all be centered around bots. If the site could get rid of the paid bots, it would be 50 times better immediately.

Tangible value as in the posts? Anyone can read the posts for free. The rewards come from the speculators' pockets. Anyone who buys STEEM or SBD or does not sell all liquid rewards and power down and liquidate all SP rewards at once believes there will be another speculator in the future who will buy STEEM and SBD at a price at least as high as what they were worth when they were gained. If the above were the whole picture, your relatives would be exactly right: Steem would be nothing but an elaborate investment bubble.
But you should note that Steemit is but one interface to Steem the blockchain. Steem is already used by dozens of applications other than Steemit. Once the number of users of apps using Steem grows large enough, that crowd will begin to interest commercial actors, motivating them to buy Steem Power to gain the attention of that crowd. The attention of large numbers of people is what motivates advertisers to buy ad space from Facebook. Facebook's market cap is a thousand times larger than Steem's . Facebook has two billion users. Steem has a million accounts. Steem has potential to be much more than a platform for content creators. It also has a money transfer system that is highly efficient. And with the Smart Media Token protocol, anyone can create a token, which an be traded against STEEM on the internal market. STEEM is needed for bandwidth for performing network transactions.
So, once the user base is large enough buying pressure on STEEM can be generated by:
A) Commercial actors for buying Steem Power to attract attention
B) The use of STEEM and SBD or any Smart Media Tokens as fast, efficient, secure, and cheap international payment system.

The daily rewards pool is generated by the Steem blockchain. The Steem price is what speculators and investors have an influence on. Yet, the price of Steem doesn't have any influence on the amount of Steem tokens created and distributed in the network of Steem.
I guess what you want to say is that: people try to buy low and sell high? Well that only applies to those who speculate on Steem. There's a huge amount of people who hold Steem as a long term investment, and like that profit from their raising SP and influence in the network.
What most people forget is that if the Steem price is low and that little number at the end of your post looks a bit small, then this has absolutely no influence on the amount of Steem (better: vests) earned. There's been a lot of people proposing to display the vests that are effectively earned with a post instead or in addition to STU. It would help people to appreciate more the value of the Steem token independently from it's value at exchanges.

@muratkbesiroglu is it a good way to explain to someone that you get steem token for your content and steem tokens are shares of steem just like you buy shares of companies in stock exchange. it should be sustainable in the long term but 2 factors will be the key

Please let me correct you here:
Steem reached 1 million accounts recently, which is not equal to 1 million users since 1 user may own multipe accounts. We currently have ~60,000 active users per day which may be a better number to play with when talking about Steem users.
that looks concerning as per those numbers it looks each active user has 16 accounts on average. are you sure that is correct number ? i agree that active users will be less than total accounts but its way too much for me. i would also like to keep an eye on this number regularly it is one of the integral part that shows growth.

Please notice that these ~60,000 active users don't necessarily need to be the very same each day. So the total of (different) active users per month is higher as you can see here.
The activity is decreasing since March which usually happens when the Steem price drops.
These one here for instance are very helpful in that context - notice the gap between the red and the green line (that's the missing retention), but: we have more than 400,000 active users in total with is ~40% of the total number of created accounts:

Artık bu sistemler kendi düzenleriyle köreliyor. Örneğin oy satıp elde edeceğiniz gelirden tutun delegaayon ile elde edeceğiniz gelire kadar her alanda daralmalar var, güncel tablolar gayet olumlu. Küçük guruplaşmalar günü kurtarıyormuş gibi görünseler dahi aslında bu enerjilerini buradan değil reel hayattan yapsalar daha karlı olurlar. Yaptıkları şey altın gününden farksız bir hal almaya başladı diyebilirim.

@muratkbesiroglu i think steemit is growing gradually day by day and building their audience now as you mentioned about facebook ,they are generating revenue in many ways from ads affiliate marketing ,product sponsor and many other ways . @muratkbesiroglu most of the steem users have the same question that how long will Steemit will be able to sustain. Since the overall concept looks promising and they also make money when people promote their posts by buying steem dollars or more power. Best part about it is that its connect to blockchain and cypto world and if in future value of cypto increases which is predicted also, then it will have a great audience across the world.

Btc and other miming facilities get paid. Because they maintain the network secure. No question on that. For those systems lot of electricity is used to decide who get the chance to process the transaction. In here that deciding is done according to people voting so we get paid for keeping the network secure and because of that, coin has a value. For human labour. From where does money come from to btc, even though each block produce 25 btc out of thin air, its buying and selling power.

The time of the Blockchain is in the starting phase and Steem will benefit If other projects such as Bitcoin Ethereum really shape the society.

I also think steemit will succeed. But still long way to go. You have only discussed about money but there are many things related to it. I think the platform need to develop more and user friendly and simple. So that more user can interact with it. Also registration process is little bit lengthy. It should be short and flexible.

But in India and many other parts of the World, the whole problem is of another level because here the people don't even know that a thing like steemit even exists and to explain them about steemit you'll first have to tell them about crypto-currencies and for that you'll have to tell them about blockchain and so on and so forth...And after listening to all that they'll tell me to pay attention on my studies and stop wasting my time.. So I consider you Lucky...

It is impossible to understand Steem, it is up to a modern task that works on the people so that people who do the work, give them information and send it forward and send it to anyone who sees or read it later.
