Last Week I Ran a Contest
To celebrate making 5,000 posts in just less than a year since I joined steemit, I offered a simple task. Pick your favourite @outerground post and tell me why. I put up a small prize pool and after carefully considering the entries I have chosen the winners. Thanks to everyone for taking the time to enter. There were some interesting and the reasons given were just as intriguing, but one selection but one stood out.
First Prize & 10 Steem Go to..
@ambarabby with this pick. It's a mind boggling article about the leaps we've made in recent history with the understanding of the Universe, it's size, complexity and near absolute certainty that a) we're not alone and that b) doesn't the Universe look like a big brain? Congratulations Katy, for picking up on one of my favourite wavelengths.
The Universe is Like a Big Sponge
Second Prize & 6 Steem Go to...
@stojay007 for picking out this rare gem. My eulogy to spring and a recent post which was picked up by @curie which I was both surprised and very pleased at. An overcast day in my hometown of Liverpool with family enabled me to reflect on the turning of the seasons. The photographs I took of emerging buds and first signs of spring inspired me to think about how the passing of the seasons and of my own seasons is an endless source of fascination both now and during my childhood. With my own children accompanying me, it allowed me to think about our own personal turning of the family seasons.
Third Prize & 4 Steem Go to...
@solcross with this entry. My epic true story of a very normal poltergeist haunting for @Jerrybanfields supernatural contests. One of the longest posts I have ever written on steemit at 3296 words and with archive family photos to illustrate this strange tale, it comes alive. It inspired a podcast retelling of the story and provided the content for episode 1 of Stranger than Fiction by @crazybgadventure Stranger Than Fiction post with link to podcast
Special Mention and a bonus 2 Steem Go to...
@aerossone who didn't select a post but wrote a great comment about how I'd helped inspire him with my writing entries for the weekly crypto article contest by @originalworks. That was a surprise and so although not in my original prize pool plan, I am awarding 2 steem to further inspire him to keep writing, keep commenting and keep learning.
Next Stop 10,000 Posts !
here is the payout screenshot.. All prizes have been duly sent to their rightful recipients
I would encourage all steemians who have done well out of steemit to indulge in a spot of random steem giveaway. I'm still a lowly minnow who often generates less than $1 for a well written post but I still find it very satisfying to repay the kindness shown by others. Hey you might just inspire someone to help propel them to great heights.
Congrats for your 5000 post achievement. I hope soon you will achieve the 5000 followers mark.
Thanks so much for this mate. I think this is the biggest prize I've gotten since I joined. But then, it's more about the fun, learning, sharing and helping each other. You and some other guys that have gone before us have inspired us to give back and help in any way we can. Truly appreciated. Better days ahead, and cheers.
P.S: Following your entries @originalworks contests as well. I think you were 2nd or thereabouts? I finished 15th or so. Haha Improving gradually. Cheers mate.
fun and learning are greatly incentivised by token rewards ! Well done to you for noticing my post and bothering to respond. as you can see, even with nearly 2,000 followers, a rep of 61 and a years worth of 5,000 posts, my post often don't even get noticed. the @originalworks contests are an inspiration to everyone who joins them..especially me !! p.s you also got a new follower
Indeed. Thanks mate :)
To be sincere with you am happy whenever I see Steemians coming up with contest as a means of giving back to there community, I looked forward to when your post will clock 10,000 as you have said, then am sure I'll surely win.
@botefarm I agree. I think it's great that people see the steem they earn as liquidity for inspiring ideas. That's what steemit is all about ! 10,000 posts before May 2019 ? that's a tall order. let's see :) I'm now at 5,025
OMG!! Thank you so much you are the best. I am really happy you liked my choice it has been in my opinion one of the best articules I have ever read, I'm still thinking about it.
You are a role model and I hoppe one day wen I get in to your position do a giveaway like this and help others stemians like me.
Thank you thank you.
-Katy-
@amabarabby you earned it and are most welcome. I was impressed with your answer and choice of post. Space is one of my favourite subjects and I am honoured by your appreciation of it. Steemit has been a really positive experience for me (and a challenge) so I'm pleased to still be here at 5,025 posts and rising... see you at 10k :) ps new follower
Thanks and thats right see you at 10k ;)
Thank you so much for the contest and the prize. Let's keep the community spirit alive.
my pleasure @stojay007 I was impressed and honoured by your response. I think steemit has a lot to offer and the sense of community can never be matched by the likes of facebook. I think steemit is the future of social media and I can't quite believe it doesn't have a billion users yet. It probably will before the end of 2020 ;) and what an amazing place it will be by then !! you and will virtually be founder members. see you at 10k.. new follower >>
damn. I missed you contest buddy :(
next time I hope I will have a chance to participate
yours
Piotr
