Question: Are new accounts getting delegated some SP?

in #steemit9 years ago

I'm sure it's explained somewhere, but I'm just trying to understand how things are working as there have been issues with people signing up to Steemit.

Looking at a new account I am assuming that an extra 105SP has been delegated to them to increase their voting power. How long does that last for? Could it cause issues if someone creates lots of bot accounts?

I think this extra SP comes from the @steem account, which is currently delegating almost all its SP. Looks like there may not be enough for the next new account. Will they get the error I showed previously? There's a Github issue for this. I think it's more about someone topping up this account that an actual bug, but the team need to be aware of it.

Steem

We need to minimise issues for people signing up to Steemit. Recruitment is vital. Keeping users is important too, but that's another story.

Mine cryptocurrency in the cloud at Eobot, including Steem. You can earn as you chat using WowApp. If you use these links I get a small reward. You can recruit others to do the same.

New accounts can be created using a combination of steem (the old way) or by delegating steem power. The amount is determined by what the witnesses set. I think it is currently a value of 1 which is 30 steem or 150 steem power delegated or any combination there of. I believe the default delegation period is 30 days. Can't remember what happens after 30 days.

It just looks like they need to ensure there is enough SP available to delegate. The steemit account has plenty

mine lasted for 6 days only.

I created a new account a few days ago and received the 105sp delegated. I was wondering where it came from! ;)
I also would like to know how a ordinary user can delegate some sp, since it seems not to be implemented yet

I assume it has to be done via the API (with some code) as it's not on the web site yet. It's a powerful feature that could be useful. I don't totally understand how rewards get allocated from it. There's now a way to split post rewards (I think), but that's also not on the web yet.
